Both coaxial cables must be EXACTLY the same length and you should NOT coil the excess if there is any... .

Dual antennae should also be at least 8ft. apart to avoid them interfering with each others RF radiation pattern... . this distance increases with more power output.....

Matt

I mounted Mine Using TWO fender mounts At the Rearward (Or Closest to the cab) Corner of my tool box. They are Dual 3 foot and the distance from them to the CB (Routing corners and stuff) was EXACTLY 18 FEET. I used a purposly made Cophase coax setup and Man This radio Rips out to the furthest points.

Tim... . very nice!

Hey, was that YOU interfering with my TV reception..... just when I was trying to watch Wapner on the People's Court!!

OK, I have set up my Galaxy DX959 with a Wilson 4' 5/8 wave antenna. With the SWR meter in line, I'm getting an SWR of about 1. 4 on 1 and 40. However, the SWR meter on the radio is indicating about 2. 5ish. That was as low as I could get on either meter. Which would you think would be correct?

Antennas and Amps

Well its like this and I am sticking my offical incoming flame job war bonnet on,but this is how it is... . For those who do not use or talk much skip a good Galaxy DX radio and a Texas Star with a Wilson(or any other over the counter stainless antenna) will do a decent job,,They will provide you with bang for your buck and talk MOST anywhere you want to,,Key word being here "MOST" anywhere,,Now if you want to get serious about being heard above and beyond ANY of those rookie amp builders(i. e. -Texas Star,Messenger,Grey, yadda yadda yadda, blah blah blah, woof woof)then there is only ONE answer..... DAVEMADE Competition amps,,They WILL out perform any out there and you will be heard,,Now I do realize conditions do contribute to most long shots, but, with the these amps I can talk to where ever I want to,,I run a M400 Comp Amp behind old President Grant export(belgium model for those who know them)or my Galaxy Super Pluto and send the hot flashes thru a polished Stryker antenna,,When in the truck out west it will give me hour of endless talk when its boring on those long rides thru the desert,,Now as far as CB's in my Cummins truck... . NOT... ,,,After a average of 200,000 plus miles a year listening to CB chatter in the work truck its time to jam in the little truck,,No cb will ever grace its cab, unless I am taking it home for my tune-up on it once a month and thats its,no noise, just plain old loud rock and roll... ... ... Hammer, you are correct. The gear you mention is in awhole different class. I looked at going to the higher end gear, but the buget wouldn't allow it, plus I just don't need it. WOuld have been nice. I liked my set up on my chevy... it could squash just about anything out there. When I was younger, I wouldn't compromise. Now that I'm older, compromise seems to come into play a lot more. maYbe if I hit the lottery.

Oh yeah, wehre was I. Aww well, I forgot.
