Today was looking up the total engine hours with the trip reset/key on run routine. Made a mistake in the sequence and the cluster went into a self test with everything lighting up and the dials spinning around. Thereafter, the miles read:
C Code
A04 11; next time: A04 13; then A04 15, and so on,
finally read: 00 00
after a few seconds trip went to "normal" total miles.
So now, someone tell me what that was all about.

A quick Bing search and this is what I found

Very enlightening; except that none of my codes are in there.
Mine kept incrementing by 2 each time I ran the test.
I finally gave up at: A04 21
Wonder what other tricks are available that most don't know about.
I suppose someone at Fiat would know what's what, but I'm not going to worry about it.
Otherwise, the unit is working flawlessly; always has.
Just need to keep my finger off the trip reset- what you don't know won't (or may not) hurt you.

The cluster is pooched, it has internal errors. Regardless of the codes probably need to get a new\different cluster.

What you did is the cluster self test, if shows codes it is almost always replacement time.

Probably nothing wrong. If your concerned you will need to have a dealer read the cluster codes as the majority of aftermarket scanners will only read PCM codes.
