Have I been under a rock for 7 years? Just got my registration and it says I need a smog check. Can anyone tell me when it started? Or did DMV make a mistake. Thanks in advance. Tom

Just registered mine and no smog. Must be a mistake or a So Cal thing.

Just for grins and giggles I'd like to see one of the test-only sites try to smog it..... "Sir I'm not sure what to do... . the computer doesn't list a 6 cyl engine for 2001... " :)

A few years back they made random checks to see if diesel rigs still had diesels in them. The 5. 7 gm's were getting gassers swapped in left and right.

:) Thanks guys, I think a trip to the DMV is in order or maybe one of the smog stations could clear it up for me. Any advice is welcome. Tom

In Nevada smog checks are required yearly but my BOMBed truck has always passed and the guy at the check station said he's never seen a diesel fail a test in over three years. Says something about the testing limits.
