I ran out of my trucks 36 month, 36,000 mile warranty today, a little less than 5 months after I put it into service. I don't believe anyone has to worry about how the 6. 7 engine and aisin transmission are going to hold up, mine was perfect. Under oilfield hauling conditions, all type of roads, all types of conditions, with loads rangeing from 8500 to 24,000 lbs in tow. The truck is a workhorse. I have had one thing break since I bought it, the o-ring under the oil filler cap, leaked a little oil on top of my engine, not really a big deal.

Sorry guys, I know this is a dull report, but it's just the way I like it. I change fluids, check things over and get on the road. I'm making money there, I can't if it is in the shop.

36,000/ 5 mos wow, now thats a working truck! thanks for the reports. sounds like DC came up with a keeper combo, I hope all our pickups do as well as your CC.

Good news EB! How about a mileage report. Mike

Mileage will run from around 9 to 11 mpg loaded, depending on the weight and wind resistance. With just the trailer, 7500 lbs empty, 12 to 13 mpg. Running just the truck, on the few runs I made without the trailer, it was averaging 15 to 16 mpg. The truck weighs 9800 lbs with full fuel, not including me, another 190 lbs.

EB:

Which rear end ratio do you have, and what gear do you tow heavy with? I was looking at the RPM vs speed numbers for a 6. 7 with the 68RE, and trying to figure out if the 3. 73 made more sense for towing becasue 5th gear seems to be right in the sweet spot for towing with the 3. 73s.

I have a cab and chassis truck with the Aisin transmission so the rear end is a 4. 10. I run the transmission in "D", 6th gear most of the time, that's 68 mph at about 1900 rpm. It runs comfortably there and if it needs to down shift, I let the transmission do its thing. I like to keep it there, you get above 2000 rpm and your fuel mileage goes to pot. I've checked it both ways, running in tow/haul, 5th gear, around 2300 rpm for 68 and in 6th, same speed. There is to much difference in the fuel mileage for me to run in tow/haul all the time, around 2. 5 to 3 mpg. When you drive as many miles as I do that makes a big difference in the bottom line.

I don't know what the rpm will be on the 68RE at a given speed with the two axle ratios. What I said above is what works best for me.

Hi EB!

I finaly got my C&C and the trip to Kansas was flawless, you can read about it in the C&C forum and see the pics which has pics with and without the bed and I also posted the MPG the entire trip. If you haven't read it yet, you ought to check it out.

The 6. 7 was powerfull enough, even with the less HP for the C&C that I didn't notice it too much except when I filled the 52 gallon tank with the bed on it, but it was only a few miles and it seemed OK.

Didn't you get the extended warranty with your C&C? I just couldn't chance the new engine and all of its EPA crap. And you still have the engine warranty (100K) and trany (180K) don't you?
