so the new style leaks also... . do i just put silicone on the screw heads???? I was going to get new lenses and gaskets, but what for if they are going to keep leaking...

HA! Most retire up here and go down there.
Goodguys- I'm obviously going with it. I'm just making sure I do a good job. Instead of silicone, I'm contemplating the use of butyl tape or window weld.

Grew up on Long Island, after 21 years of sun and fun, moved back home. Also, I hated hunting in the warm climate, too many damm bugs. .

Update

Friday, I installed the lamps in anticipation of "Sandy" that will bring lots of rain. The old lamps were stuck down to the roof really well and the screws were LOOSE! I'm thinking that the water was coming in that way, through the screws. Anyway, I cleaned the surface with a detailer spray, and put the new ones down. Here are a couple of pics, including the box with number. The old lamps had a foam gasket that tore easily when picked at, the new ones are a type of silicone. The new ones DO NOT have a black band at the base.

I too used the 4th gen clears, as I think they look much better on a white truck. My OEM's were the cheesy foam seal, but never leaked. No issues with screw holes.

I just siliconed my screws and gaskets when mine started leaking. It is not real pretty, but the silicon is cheaper than a set of lenses.
