Just bought a 2016 2500 4x4 and it has the cab clearance lamps. My father in law was telling me to watch out for leaks. Now I'm worried every time it rains I will find a damp stained head liner. My question is: should I do some preventive maintenance and apply a silicon or something or should I not worry about it. How many of you have had no issues and how many have had water problems. What is the fix or has FCA addressed this issue. Thank you for any info.

If it came from the factory with the clearance lights, I wouldn't worry about it. I've had two DRW Dodge trucks for 20 years and never had them leak. However, I can't undwestand why the factory would put clearance lights on a single wheel 2500.

It's an option for those of us who want to look like a "real truck"!

Mine has them. I wouldn't have factory ordered a truck with them, this truck was on the dealer's lot, but now that I have them I like the look. My initial concerns were potential leaks and being a poser. No leaks so far. As for being a poser, well, so what.

If I didn't have to have them, I woudn't. They are a DOT requirement if the truck has Dual wheels. I don't believe a 3500 single wheel is required to have them.

Poser here.....I always get cab marker lights on mine. I do hold a valid CDL so it's kinda' OK on a 3/4 ton for me.....:D:-laf

If I had time to do it up my Megacab would look like this after dark......

I had mine replaced under warranty about a month ago three of the five had cracks around the mounting screws.
They did not leak but all of them had moisture build up inside the lens.
All good and we have had plenty of rain.

Had one leak on my '04.5 early on, fixed under warranty, no headliner damage. No leaks on the '11 I had for a few years or on the '16 yet.

My BIL ordered an 08 F350 single wheel with the 6.4 powerjoke engine. He also ordered the cab clearance lights. He liked the clearance lights because it gave the truck a "macho look". He had many issues with the powerjoke, so he got rid of the truck and his Forest River 5th wheel three years ago.

Any idea how long the bulbs last on clearance lights? Might be worth having the dealer do it so it doesn't leak
