Hot Shot Forum...

Quite a few states have chicken laws that state if a light is installed by the factory, it has to be working. I think that was the "Oops switch", so if stopped, you can claim the wife accidently hit the switch, and turn em back on.
Maryland will give you a ticket if you have the covers off those lights, doesn't matter if the lights are on or not.

Well, It appears a slight squall has erupted. Let me address the issues. The overhead cab lights reflect off the overhang of the camper causing a glare on the windshield. Now that I have them off the night driving on dark roads is much better without glare and safer. The camper has the clearance lights to mark the whole vehicle, so no issue there. The bumper lights are for driving dark roads out here in the west where we still carry guns and ride horses :>)... in all honesty the drive from I 5 to Eureka on the CA coast was dark and lonely with rain and spotty fog, typical mid winter stuff for that area, and I sure was glad to have the fogs and the drives. NO they are not used together and are set up that way. Drives with HI, fogs with LO... VA and MD must not require such control devices if people are so neglectful to not dim there lights on the their buggies to approaching traffic... you learned that in driver's ed... or has that not been taught out there any longer. When I went to Faifax HS in VA, I learned that in my driver ed class.

So it would seem that we can get into a ******* match about things and have a adversarial exchange or we could have a pleasant exchange of ideas and POV's.

THX for all the info, this is a fun place.

As it stands I meet all the laws for my state and you'll meet yours... the point is the driving headlights form DC SUCK!!!! And I am tired of waiting for aftermarket units. ARE you pleased with the headlights from DC?

I think the stock lights are very adequate.

Fords lights are so bright on low beam that they blind on coming traffic. The new ( gen 3 ) are almost as bad.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with my stock lights too, plenty of lighting for what I need. The only thing I did was get new Sylvania bright whites from Auto Zone; my old ones were original.

PJay9, if you thought I was starting a peeing contest, you have my apologies. I was just stating what Maryland (and apparently VA too) will do, if your lights aren't covered. And, yes, there are a ton of jackasses on the road in Maryland who apparently never paid attention in driver's ed, because they don't dim their brights, when you're coming at them. I always like flashing them, when I'm in my wife's BMW 740iL to wake them up a bit. They almost always dim their lights instantly.

Apology accepted... Just sometimes there seems to be a conflict from east to west. I grew up driving in VA in the snow when i got my Permit.

Anyway, I understand about the laws and they are covered most of the time until they are needed in the dead of night. I sure do hope the new aftermarket headlights are much better when they finnally arrive. My wifes Cetera has lights to die for. . if I could figure a way to adapt them... probably like the BMW lights GERMAN!!!

Have a good Christmas or Holiday or whatever you subscibe to. PJ
