Hey all, a friend of mine has a 98. 5 CTD, and the cab fan speed increases when you are driving down the road and push on the go pedal. It slows down when you let off the pedal. Could it be the resistor causing the problem? It really spooked me when I first looked at it. Any ideas? TIA.

Anyone out there? No one ever had this problem?

It it still doing it, even if you have the controls turned off.

Any ideas appreciated!

Well, first, contact a priest cus you need an exorcism...

heh just kidding. .

Havent really heard of this problem before, its possible the fan control switch may have bonded the contacts on high, and the alternator charge is controlling the fan speed somehow. Do all the fan speeds function ok? I dont think the computer has anything to do with this, but i could be wrong. Good place to start would be to take off the fan switch and ohm out all four positions.

good luck

its very easy to pull out resistor and check it. don't know if it would cause your problem but its very easy to take out only takes 5 minutes. mine was burnt up and ceramic was broke causing me lots of problems. it has two phillips screws on left side of blower fan with a 4 prong plug.
