Geno has them, I got one. Piece of cake to install, is an allergen filter as well as keeping all that trash out of the blower compartment. Worth every penny. Do a search on here and you can see photos I posted of mine installed, and other valuable comments too.

Well crap, now it is BELOW. Look for this title: " if you are looking for something to do, clean out your blower motor"

It's worth the buckeroos and keeps the big stuff out. As far as the claim to reduce diesel blowby odors... zero effect on mine on the '99.

I also use the one from Geno's. It doesnt seem to do that much for keeping fumes or dust out but it sure as heck keeps the chunks out. I got it 4 or 5 years ago mainly for one reason, so I wouldnt have to do the cleanout process mentioned in the thread posted above. Leaves arent such a problem here where I am but pine needles and cedar/juniper trash sure can be an issue.

I also got mine to keep the big stuff out of the blower cavity, after seeing what all was in there. Heck, I LIKE the smell of diesel fumes!

Is there a stock freshair filter already in there? It seems that the Geno's product is an aftermarket item, right? So, do I need to pull out an old filter that is already down there?

I had the 3rd Gen filters from Geno's on my '05 and was NOT impressed. The plastic tangs that clipped into the fresh air grille started to break after a month. After a few months, the tangs were almost all broken, so I took the filters off (came in two parts) and threw the whole thing away. I think the 2nd Gen filters attach differently than the 3rd Gen filters. If anybody has anything good to say about the 2nd Gen filters, I'd love to hear about it.

Not at all! It is held to the PLASTIC cowl air inlet by a couple of those springy plastic push on thingys and screws - into the plastic. No rust issues, you don't even know it is there unless you were knowing what you were looking for.

Don,

Do the sheet metal screws go into the hood? If so, does this create a potential rust issue?

If you go back on this forum to subject: "if you are looking for something to do, clean out your blower motor" I put photos of the gizmo before and after photos of my installation.

If you can't find it, I will give you a better title.

Cleanable, replaceable filter media. I think it does restrict airflow a little bit, seems like it anyway.
