I have been considering a set of cab lights for my 02 2500. Are they worth the time and effort to buy and install. How hard is it to install the kit from Dodge. I like the looks of them and really want em, but i don't know how big of a pain it will be to put em in, anyone who has done it please chime in.

Sorry, I can not help you with instructions or pointers on a install, but my truck came with the roof clearance lights from the factory. Just today I had all five replaced by the dealership (still in warranty) due to what I am calling stress cracks in the lens. I'm guessing from constant sun exposure or possilbly over-tightening from the factory, I don't know for sure. Anyway like you I like the lights myself, and would probably have installed a set if my truck didn't have them to start with. Keep in mind though it may be a every couple of year thing to trade them out for new ones. JMO

installing cab lights isnt a tough job, just time consuming... about 3 hrs for me. u need to drop the headliner and u will find a 1" hole in the structure support. thats where the wires come thru. then find a 2nd gen with factory cablights and measure the distance back from the windshield to the front of the lights. drill you holes and mount. solder all the wires and insulate fully and splice them in at the headlamp switch.

2 pointers. use leds for the cab lights. e-mail me and i can get u some. less voltage draw on the switch.

if the kit comes with steel screws, ditch them and get stainless with rubber washers, can be found at any hardware store. the steel screws rust in a matter of days.

take your time on the install unless u enjoy dropping the headliner all the time.
