I am running a strait pipe on my Q/C swb. The problem is from 70mph to about 76 77mph the roar of the exahust inside the cab will drive you crazy. About an hour and a half of driving will give anyone a headache. Once you get to about 80mph, it is ok. I really don't wanna put the muffler back on and can't afford an expensive exhaudt system. Can yall help me out!

Put the muffler back on or fork out some dough, the only way you're gonna do it unfortunately. Sounds insulation is expensive, and not nearly as effective as adding/changing mufflers. .

What were you thinking a straight piped truck would sound like? If you want real bad, just hitch up a trailer, but don't forget the Goody's headache power.

Seriously, you need to get off the cash and get yourself a descent exhaust system. Don't buy the cheapest thing out their either, you'll end up with more of the same. I installed a 4" system with the quietest muffler available and still found it to loud, so I installed a Aero Turbine muffler in front of the system muffler. Much, much better, you can now have a conversation without yelling, or listen to the radio. Many on here claim they like their straight piped truck, maybe they do, maybe they don't? But I can not see how anyone with a family would like the loud noise, IN my opinion it ruins the truck, and makes travel anything but welcome.
