Well when I got my truck over a year ago it came with a cab visor on it. Myself I never would have put it on there. But I figured it was there and I would leave it. Now I am considering ways to get rid of it. It vibrates going down the rode at freeway speeds, makes this low frequency hum or noise, is starting to crack, etc.

I asked a local shop that does quality body work and can make it look like factory again. $1000. Ouch. I figured that clearance lights in the back row of holes will cover them. What should I do about the front row of holes, in the roof?

What about replacing with a new one that does not vibrate, etc. How much is a new cab visor, what brands, ???

Other ideas entertained. 2 rows of clearance lights? How stupid would that look? How about a row of antenna's? Give me anything and everything ya can think of. Who knows what great idea lurks out there.

You can put a round head allan bolt through the hole and paint the head to match the truck. You will see them but won't look too bad.

Just a thought here, but do you have a bug shield? If you do, chances are that it is what's causing your vibration troubles. They make ones for trucks with sunvisors. They have a flared up edge at the back to direct the air up and away from the cab more. I had this same problem 'til a friend enlightened me.

Ron,

Why yes I do, and what Brand bug shield is that you were enlightened about?

I dont have a factory DC one that curves back. Is one of those that mounts behind the chrome grill and sticks almost straight up. Came with it too.

Sly,

The bug shield on my truck is a Lund. Just look for one that follows the contour of the hood except that the back edge should curl straight up. I've seen several manufacturer's versions. They usually don't say in the literature about them that they are better for trucks with visors. BUT, if you go to a good place that does body work they will tell you about it. Here's a link for one kind:

PS: one more thing, my old visor was so beat up that I had to replace it when I changed bug shields. Not a squeak since.

SlyBones,

Which visor do you have? I have thought about getting one but haven't because of the reasons you have mentioned. With my driving habits, I think I might experience the same thing. I was thinking about the Lund Moon Visor. Anyone have any experiece with the Moon Visor? I may just go with cab lights.

Lund

I spoke with a Dodge owner who had the Lund Lunar (lighted) visor and asked him if he had any wind noise. He told me that he had no problems :D . Also on these latest Lund visors you DO NOT drill any holes in the roof. The holes are drilled under the rubber seal at the top of the door jam, very clean install. I will have on. Sam

Since my truck as originally a Canadian truck, I believe is has a Canadian brand name visor. I do not know the name. The local toys for trucks guys cannot find it in any if the catalogs they have. Looks nice as far as that goes, but is older technology and I am pretty sure it has holes in the roof. Kinda like the sound of the new Lund, if your gonna do a visor. Personally I would have never done this myself. But it came on there and I figured OK.

So far cab lights in one set and painted matching plugs in the others is what I have got so far. Was told by local shop they have removed a few of these, and it did not look too bad. I am nervious about it.

The new visors are the Solar and Lunar series, at lesat I'm pretty sure these are the one that look more aerodynamic and you don't have to drill holes in the roof.

I really like the looks of these, but a friend of mine put one on his Chevy that did not have a bug shield, and it is pretty noisy. That is not to say it would be noisy on a Dodge, but I'm not going to take a chance.

My $. 02,

Ryan
