The truck manual on the 04. 5 states that chains should not be installed on the front tires of the 4x4. Have any members used cable chains on the LT/265/70 R17 front tires? Encounter any problems?

If your in deep snow and have all 4 tires chained up I dont see the problem. Ussually you dont want to chain the fronts when towing because if you hit the brakes you will jack knife. Thats why we chain the rears up. You could probably spin out if the fronts were chained on steep down grade if you were going to fast. I would not recommend cables at all. You have a 4x4 so if its that bad chaining the back will get you there. If not chain all 4.

Cable chains are great on a Honda Civic. As for a Full size truck, I wouldnt even think of it unless I owned a body shop! Buy the chains and just take it easy if you chain up in front. ;)

Cables are for Hondas

I have used chains on all 4 wheels in deep snow for years. Nothing else even comes close. Never on frount if towing. If ist that bad stop for the nite and have a beer.

Never use cables, they suck to put it lightly. They distribute the weight more evenly into the packed snow and ice. If you need chains, get V-bar chains. They bite, but in a good way. Now if I could just confirm that the chains I had for my Ford (235/85 16) will fit these tires, I could sweat a little less.
