Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Caddalac Convertors

When some of you guys say you run srait pipes do you run a straight pipe from ur cad convertor or do u cut it off and have it before the convertor starts? i made it after my convertor and angled it right out infront of my dually wheel, so im really just wondering what it would hurt if i removed it. thanks for ur input

Acording to law if it comes with a cat it needs the cat to pass inspection. Lucky me didnt have a cat from the factory so i have straight pipe from the turo to the stacks.

no emmissions in PA... ... when i was doing my stack install some homeless guy ran off with my kat, muffler, and silencer ring! i just took my losses = D

not sure about here in tx but i took the cat and muffler off and have had no problems

I have an emissions check and pass particulate with flying colors without my cat. I'm allowed 20% opacity @ 30mph and read less than 2%.

what does a cat convertor have inside it? anyone evecut one in half to see?

i do believe some honey comb shaped baffles and what not. when i saw-zawed the first half of my factory exhaust off, i couldnt even see the light of day thru either side.

It's basically a whole stack of screnes (similar to window screen) that are made of exotic metals. The get really hot and burn the excess hydrocarbons out of your exhaust.

cool! i have an exhaust job to do for a girl tomarrow, lol she has half os the stock exhaust bearly holsding on to ur truck so im gunna shave it off and put on a black smoke speciaL!

I dropped my cat and all the stuff fell out. I removed the muffler and installed Geno's eliminator pipe. I love the sound. 1998 12 Valve stick.
