cadillac catera hmmmmmmmmmmmm!!

hello, i own a cadillac catera and it has a loil eak in the air conditioning compressor -- caddy dealer say replace it for around $925. 00 -- couldnt this thing just have a new seal installed -- dealers are parts installers not mechanics -- the air conditioning works fine right now so the compressor still works just leaks compressor oil -- any advice anyone?

They should be able to. I'd probably go elsewhere, they sound like parts changers. They make a lot more money on a compressor than a seal.



Don't wait too long, you can run it out of oil and kill it.

Not sure if they have an expansion tube still (been out of AC work for a couple years) but if it does, I would replace it also.



You will have to guess how much oil you lost and add it.



If the seal is leaking does that mean you have no freion left? add the price of a recharge.
