That's too bad Doc-but odds are good if you guys wanna hook up with a few of us northern types for a meet and greet/BS session before the actual event that one or more of us will be available..... I'm about 2. 5 hours out of the city itself but I'm thinking I'll be on holidays then. May be worth your while to tour the scenic Drumheller valley while you're out this way-in which case I can take you to a few places off the tourist map for photo opportunities etc... .

A note from the Wee One...



On Friday I confirmed that Piers Diesel Research will be at the show.

As well... Diesel Transmissions Technologies, Amsoil, Harley Davidson, BD, GCL Fuel systems and it looks like Michelin will attend as well.

Just waiting for the replies from the remaining folks that got an invite. tick tick tick

We have decided that there will be other shows across Canada and then into the USA during the winter so all that are involved will have the first option to participate.

TV coverage, media, VIP judging panel, White Hat ceremonies and The Calgary Police Service Truck unit will attend... they said that if theres any smoke and burnin rubber that they will be

I better get that in writing. Actually they will be part of the VIP judging.



I have a compground/campground near Calgary lined up too... email me for info on that.

Piers and Bill K and Dee Rawson will be there.

Should prove to be interesting.

Back to the top-AFAIK (although I haven't talked to Scott for a while now) there's still spots available. US money still goes forever and a day up here... ... lots to see and do other than the diesel show. Maybe some of you guys from Alaska should come down and see us too!

Lodging in Calgary

Well I checked around and Lodging isn't exactly "cheap" ( I know I'm a tightwad/penny pincher, etc. etc. ). Best price CDN was $119 per night which is approx $75 US, most are $139 and up from there for 1 person. Availability is starting to run out because of the big Stampede going on.



I checked some of the smaller outlying towns/suburbs and found a place for $60. 48 CND per night in Turner Valley. Nothing fancy but it looks good for the price. Any other penny pinchers who want something more affordable might check them out, but the downside is it's a 30-40 minute drive to the event each way:

Unfortunately everyone and their dog that own a hotel/motel in Calgary seem to feel that Stampede time is the time to make big $$$$. The outlying areas to an extent have gotten caught up in it as well... ... obviously not all of them though.



There's a whole crew camping east of Strathmore-not sure who exactly but quite a pile. Assuming they'll let me in as well that's where I'll be staying too. Again 1/2 hour from the city-may be a good thing too! Not sure what I'm going to do when (notice I didn't say if) I partake in too much Stampede cheer-maybe Waterous will let me leave my truck there and I can cab it all over the city at night! Nice thought anyways..... time will tell how it works out!



I'm getting pretty excited now-gotta make a couple more phone calls later next week when everyone is back from Muncie to line up some more horsies.....
