Oh yeah, Gov. Gay Davis was on the Sunday talk shows a couple of weeks back. He was basically saying that the problem wasn't that they had price caps in place that had them selling electricity below what they bought it for. No, he was saying the problem was that the Federal Government needed to step in and put price caps in to force out of state companies to sell the electricity below what it costs #ad
I never cease to be amazed. Oh, and before someone jumps in and starts criticizing that "rich Texas energy company" (Reliant, I think?), all I can say is, it's a free market. If they're charging too much, buy it from someone else or make your own #ad

After the election I emailed Bush/Cheney and suggested they hire Walter Williams to head up their economic team but unfortunately they did not do that. I have yet to disagree with Walter Williams about anything.

I like Walter Williams, also. Guy has some common sense and doesn't mind telling it like it is, usually backed up with documented evidence. He's good.

Somewhere I read/heard that the utilities were the ones that lobbied for the 12. 5 cent/KWH price cap because they believed that the wholesale cost would drop below that and the cap would guarantee their profits. Can anybody verify this?

hmm... makes you wonder.
