How not to change an exhaust

Then they do not have to follow any legislation passed? I know it is expensive to have a ballot initiative placed to allow voters to vote on. I understand it is a start but is it an expensive exercise in futility? I know California like other States have budget problems and will this bill do anything except add to the budget problem for feel good reasons?

This is not a knock on California; Arizona does this kind of stuff too. Good they are getting called out but to what effect? People in that position tend to march to their own drum with nothing requiring them to do anything else. I understand this is an attempt to keep politics from their decision making but they seem to become self-serving in many ways.

I am not from California so should not be commenting really. Just some thoughts being thrown out there. A frustrating situation and from my perspective would not count on a change even if they are wrong.

I believe the Governor appoints, and no term limit until they resign or retire. They (CARB) basically have no big brother watching them or say in thier new policies.

AB32 on the November ballot is a start in the right direction, and CARB is getting called out on thier policies now more than ever in the news/press.

I'll be there to cast my vote for sure.

However, any chance of repealing any current California SMOG laws are wishful thinking.

Do the math, . . . California state would lose millions of dollars if it were to negate any legislation reguarding SMOG.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the smog check should only be a sniffer test, not a visual. Who cares what is going on in the engine compartment as long as the exhaust is within limits. In my VW I had a hi performance motor that was actually cleaner than the stock motor but would fail the visual.

I don't think anyone would disagree to bad it is not so. :-laf

How sad that the empty-suit morons in government can wield so much power, seemingly without recourse. It seems that every point of the greenie-weenie agenda is based on junk science, yet the real people who actually work for a living, have to suffer the consequences, and foot the bill. We need to establish a two term system for the politicians... one term in office, and one term in prison:mad:

Make sure to vote YES on 23. This state has been under attack from the tree huggers since 1975.

The economy reflects it#@$%!

Poor,poor pitiful us.

I just received my renewal. $491 which goes for redistribution of wealth from the productive to the "downtrodden and disenfranchised" (bums) of this state. Luckily still no smog check. I've escaped it two years in a row now. Making an appointment at the DMV to change my plates from commercial to private. My camper never comes off. This will save me $204. It's not due until 12-30 and that's when they'll get it. :mad:

CARB zealot

Mary Nichols, the head of CARB, is an environment zealot and extreme control freak.

  • She ignores science;
  • She sanctions falsification of data;
  • She has contempt for business;
  • She has hidden crucial information from her own board;
  • She will not be happy until she has destroyed the economy of California.

    Mary knows that ‘she knows what’s good for us’, we are so lucky!

Your description sounds like she was appointed by nobama, not the KA governor.

Perhaps she was trained by nobama.

Oops, I guess this is not the place for political commentary.

Pt. Loma! I retired off the submarine tender McKee at Pt. Loma.

Are you active duty Navy?
No,my wife and I frequent the monument and Ft. Rosecrans cemetary where my parent's lie in rest. Thank God for the military's preserving and utilizing that property or it would belong to the wealthy. It looks like 23's not going to make it. People are ignoring the inescapable fact that this prop. is a job killer and will not clean up the air. Jobs will just move next door to another state.

Yeah, that's a beautiful site and sight. Everytime I return to San Diego for a visit I end up driving down to the south tip of Pt. Loma on the submarine base just to stand at the tip and enjoy the view. Haven't been up to Fort Rosecrans in many years. When I was on the McKee we buried the cremated remains of a young chief and his wife at Fort Rosecrans who were killed by a drunk driver in a head-on crash in SD. They were driving a silly little liberal's econobox and were killed instantly.
