I have an 05 with some mods and was wondering if any of you in California have had the smog inspection preformed yet?..... And if you have, how did it go?... ... I have the Banks inter-cooler and intake horn and from what I have read the intake horn is OK..... while the inter-cooler is not approved yet... ... I spent some time on the phone with Banks technical support and was assured that by December (when my tags are due) the the inter-cooler would have a CARB approval number... ... . It seems that so many aftermarket manufactures are applying that the air resources board is overwhelmed now... ... ... . acording to Banks technical support?... .

From what I hear from my Buddy that work's for the State they may be shutting down the Diesel Smog Idea we will soon see

If it were me I wouldn't worry about it, I would mask off the ends of the intercooler, and also the ram horn and spray them a OEM semi flat black to cover all the Banks logos, they won't notice it.

The Banks name is a raised casting and is a fail... ... ... .

Politics... Politics

Thanks Robert Patton for writing the article in TDR magazine and for giving us a heads up and explaining the emissions legislation in California and the technical information as well. I learned a lot from the article. It's like getting slapped in the face by the State... Sooner or later the State of CA was going to do the emissions testing on Diesel pickups, we all saw it ... what a joke. "They" claim the state is going broke, they take away Senior care and a whole bunch of other needed stuff and they find the money to waste on emissions testing. What is this State coming to? When I lived in Colorado in the early 90's, they came up with the Dyno emissions, that state spent millions on that idea and they pulled the plug within one year. I remember running my 76' Jeep CJ5 with a built 401 on the emissions dyno and the dyno broke (the drum became unattached). Oh well - It's all about the money... right? I am waiting with baited breath as I have a host of goodies on my CA truck. But the irony is the goodies like the Smarty, intake, exhaust, etc probably reduce emissions?#@$%!

Hey Bob after talking with him the other day about this he has heard word smog for Diesel's is on the stopping block also .

So turbo-back open exhaust is a fail? Just got done straight piping the '06 and got rid of the particulate filter and muffler.....

Yes. Hope you kept your stock parts.

It is a wonderful thing to blame Arnie, but I believe that there are a bunch of other idiots in Sac that need to be sacked.

For those of us who are here... vote incubents out. Then, let's work on getting a part time legislature that has to go home to live under the laws they create.

I think that about 45 days every two years to dream up whatever stupid *** laws would suffice. Then, they go home to earn a living instead of sucking from the public trough like the pigs that they are.

I could be wrong, but that is what I think. So tax me!
