Where did you get a 1500 lbs curb weight? That sounds more like a net load rating or something like that. My '95 was a curb weight of 6300 lbs.

the truck was brought in from out of state as a salvage vehicle and the previous owner had it registered that way. not sure how the DMV let him get away with it for so long, but the weight fee component was $8. Its now over $200 with the proper curb weight.

I only noticed it when I paid my 97 Ram gasser registration the month prior and the 99 CTD was way cheaper. Last year my wife paid one bill and I paid the other, so we didn't catch it. The previous year was the first I owned it and just did a basic title change and the fees were up to date, so I didnt notice then.

You're lucky the DMV didn't ask for back fees. :)

An interesting little typo or things to come?

The Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) and the Air Resources Board (ARB) have scheduled a series of workshops to discuss adding a diesel-powered vehicle inspection to the Smog Check program. This inspection will affect 1998 and newer model-year diesel-powered vehicles under 14,000 pounds GVWR.

So they have both the year and the GVWR wrong. Nice.

I was really upset to hear about this, because I was looking into purchasing a 2007 CTD 6. 7 with no drivetrain. The plan was to install my old 12V and have a kid hauler when the family grew larger and the reg cab wouldn't cut it. Being that CA doesn't have any smog for diesels I didn't think it would be an issue. If the GVW stays around 8000 and something I'll be OK but if it actually is at 14,000 I'm out of luck.

I was hoping my biggest issues would be getting a mechanical engine working in a computer laden shell.

Get ready, here it comes!

Well, we are are almost at the beginning of the end! Tailpipe test and motorcycles won't be far behind in Cali and the Western States.
