2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Caliper bolt torx size??????????

[Bug Out]

I went to change the rotors and pads on my 2000 4x4 and could not for the life of me find the right size torx wrench.



I tried a 45 which would NOT go in any of the 4 bolts. Went and bought a T-40 and it was too small.



What gives? i found a couple similar posts, but not a sollution.



I tried allen wrenches, but no luck.

It's a T50, or an 3/8" allen depending on year, I think.

Mine is the 3/8th allen head. Looking at your signature, I'll bet yours is too!

My was a 3/8" too.

I had the same problem with mine (2001). Could not find the right size Torx driver so here is what you do. Take the size that will fit into the bolt and wrap the end with kitchen foil until you get a tight fitting. It also helps if you have access to air and can use a ratchet. This worked for me!

I called Dodge and got no help. I'll try the foil trick.



I know for sure its a torx bolt, but 40 is too small, and 45 too big.



I'd like to order some allen head bolts like my 3500 has.

Bug Out - mine is a T45 and the foil trick worked for me. Let us know how you make out.

Torx sizes are REALLY screwey

I was messing around with my cordless drill and noticed I had a few torx bits in there. i found a "45" torx that is slightly smaller then the one I was trying, yet fits the caliper more snug then the 40, but not tight.



I have to laugh about it. I was in the process of making my larger 45 fit( was gonna take the dremel tool to it), but now I'll try the slightly smaller one, with foil of course. .



I'll fill ya in on the results tomorrow.
