cummins in 79 Chevy 4x4

Cherokke 4WD system questions?

Land cruiser install

I'm considering installing a 5. 9L Cummins in a Land Cruiser but can't find anyone that has one for measurements. I need to know the bay length from the firewall to the radiator, also the weight of the Toyota engine, I believe it's 800lbs. Does anyone know the answers to these question, please let me know if you do.

Thanks

I have a 93 LC:

Firewall to face of radiator -- 38” (fire recess to face of core not fan shroud)

4. 5 DOC 6I -- 33” +/- 850#

93 -97 LC world wide market is turbo diesel. (70% total production - vehicle of choice in Africa & Australia)

My LC is lifted, 35’s, winch, etc. and it sees a lot of dirt & mud. I cruise past CJ7s on a regular basis. I LOVE IT, wouldn’t trade for anything EXCEPT an Australian TD model.

At a quick measure the CTD should fit right in and the LC frame can handle the weight.

If you do this, keep us posted.

fallbrookjeff,

Thanks for the info, I asked this question on the land cruiser site but know one answered it, so thanks again.

I'm looking for a LC right now but they are rare up here in Alaska and high priced, I'm going to have to find one in the lower 48.

When I do this I’ll post it.

Thanks

If you get one of the older models, the ones with the inline 6, that engine is a 235 cu in chevy. Measure the chevy engine and you have the LC. The cummins should fit.
