Hoping to have pictures on or about the 15th of this month. That was what I was told by the manufacturer anyway... we will see.

MoparBob

Thanks for all your perserverance in trying to see this through.

As the old saying goes "in for a penny in for a pound" most of us will continue to be patient and see what your contact presents.

Mr. Goat is right on. Been watching this thread for a while...

Egad! Some of you fellers act you've already paid the man some money or something, or he's obligated to you in some way.

I say be patient for as long as it takes...

OR

Get on the horn to a lighting manufacturer yourself and work a deal if you think you could do better...

OR

Hit the aftermarket for what's currently available to fix your lighting woes.

I want better lighting for my truck just as much as the next guy, but STOP BADGERING THE GUY! #@$%!

My $. 02. Rant mode off.

Thanks for what you're trying to do MoparBob.

I have been following this thread for a long time also.

What I am waiting for is, after these lights are available hearing the feedback from the first few guys that install them both Pro & Con.

I have been putting off installing a light bar on the front with some driving lights for to long already.

I'd say you need to install your driving lights as they will still out perform any legal better then OEM headlight units... that is the nature of the beast. I installed Cibie drives and they are terrific and chaged out the fogs for yellow Cibie down in the bumper, so much better. A little pricey, but I am totally happy. Also you'll see above in this post some replacement headlights, that are very very good... makes me wish I had old style headlights on this 2004. I'd be all over those in a flash! I am being patient but I have a trip coming up for two months and really wanted better headlights to go, that is why I want this to move forward... NOW!!! PLEASE!!!!

Its February and no word from MoparBob.

Well, hmmm what do do.

Maybe the manufacturer you had lined up was not the right one. There are several out there. Having one year time should have been enough time to build a positive working relationship with someone meaningful in that company.

As for me, I'm going to pass on this empty promiss.

Good Luck Moparbob.

Do you guys realize the tens of thousands of dollars that goes into designing , manufacturing and getting DOT approval ?? We should be thankful a company was willing to take on the challenge!! Thanks MOPARBOB for your help in getting this going. Can't wait to see the end result. :)

i am looking forward to see the end product too... i do want better lighting, but some cheap ebay things i don't want. . i am willing to wait for a quality product

P-Bar and Nickleinonen;

I also need better light in my 05 and had high hopes for Moparbob's product. If you look at when Moparbob's last post was and what it said, he is behind in his promiss with an information update. This is the issue I have with him.

Getting DOT approval is not that difficult for a company that specializes in producing OE automotive lighting equipment. They know what works, they know the laws and if Moparbob and his mystery company are smart on this project, they will adapt proven off-the-shelf technology to both speed up approval, production and keep the final cost in check. This is not rocket science.

What it will really boil down to is that someone has to come up with dollars to fund the development, certification and the initial production run. My guess is that there is no one willing to foot this upfront cost without having a certain quantity of buyers lined up to cover at least the overhead.

It would be nice to hear from Moparbob again with any kind of information.

Wow... sure seems like a few feel that I have made some sort of promise or that I myself am directly responsible for the manufacturer reprioritizing his work load mid-project. I started this thread in order to get some feedback from this community to accomplish a couple things; 1) to find out what everybody wanted and what the level of interest was, 2) to see if there was enough interest for a group buy so that I could pass some savings on to my fellow third gen owners, 3) to generate more interest on the manufacturer's part so that we could get these crappy headlights fixed and 4) I needed some measurements to get this project rolling. Please keep in mind that I am currently working overseas on a job that requires a 7 day a week, 12 hour a day commitment, am trying to communicate effectively with a manufacturer located in yet another part of the world and trying to keep in touch with this forum that is yet in another part of the world. I believe most of you know how hectic life in the states can get... well... . if my responses are sometimes slow in coming, my apologies. I sometimes hop and skip through the forums and posts due to time constraints so my activities are very erratic and I do tend to overlook posts sometimes.

Anyway... I have sent four Emails (the 17th, the 29th, the 2nd and a few minutes ago) to the manufacturer for pictures and more information. So far, no response. If I receive no response from the manufacturer within the next week, I will leave it up to those reading this forum to decide if I should should put an end to the pursuit of DOT certified replacement headlights for our third gen trucks or give these guys some more time. Personally... I am tired of waiting as well.

After writing the above response, I received an email from the manufacturer stating "they had some fitment issues when they installed the prototypes back on to their test truck for some pictures last week".

Just thought I would pass that on for what it's worth...

As an old farm boy I remember having glass eggs to leave in the coop so that the hens would start sitting and soon be nesting on their own eggs. You would think that after a while the chickens would figure out that those glass eggs will never hatch and just give up on them, but they never did.

wow . . . I praise MoparBob's efforts as much as anyone . . . however this "next week, next week, next week" routine from the manufacturer has become old a long time ago . . . I am using Silverstar Ultra's on the stock headlamp assemblies. It is improved from stock, but still not nearly as good as the lamps should be. Anyone had any luck with any other options?

I'd sure like better lights . But I don't think this deal is gonna happen and if it does the lights will cost a grand or more. I don't want them that bad.

Agreed... got old a long time ago. It's still going on too... next week, next week, next week... . But at this point in the game I figure I will continue to send Emails until I either get the product or I **** them off enough they tell me to get bent. Either way I will get resolution :).

I don't believe I said that they would cost a thousand dollars. We discussed a price range from the very start and we should be closer to half that when all is said and done.

BTW: The latest is they are still having fitment problems and that is what the current delay is.

P**s poor illumination

I may have started this thread back in 2003 after I took delivery of my '03 Turbo Diesel and noticed I couldn't see s**t at night in the boonies where I live. I bought the Brite-Box and said I would write a story about it if it helped correct what I now know is a factory design fault.

Sadly, there was tremendous improvement immediately in front of the truck, but not down the road where illumination is needed. Whether the Brite Box is worth the money is up to the user -- I'd say yes, but it still doesn't solve the problem. EXAMPLE: I have driven for the last 30,000 miles with my headlights on bright and NOT A SINGLE DRIVER has blinked his headlights at me for having my brights on!!!!!! Does that tell you something????

IMHO, this is a problem that can't be fixed. DC is unresponsive to the problem, doesn't know, doesn't care or doesn't read this forum. For my part, it doesn't matter and I have moved on from the issue. If you want more light, buy a light bar and add 'em up front. Otherwise, feel your way down the highway like I've been doing the last few years.
