Excuse me for not being current on the latest and greatest turbo info as I have been away from the boards for some time and have missed alot, but what is the skinny on Piers modded HX35? Did it turn out to be as great as it looked like it would be a few months ago? Durability? Anyone blown it up yet as so many have with the HX40's? (I flushed down the toilet about $700 on one of the POS's myself). The proposed application is a 2002 2500 auto with edge comp and ddII's. Will I be paying the $575 for the December special or will I have to buy a housing to replace the one that comes with the truck? Those that have converted to this turbo from the HY35, how much did it cost and how do you like the spool up compared to stock, I know the HY with it's small housing spools faster than the stock HX35 in my 2000. Any suggestions and input is much appreciated, particularly which size housing to go with, 12 or 14.

Thanks and a merry christmas to all!

I swapped from the HY to PDR special with a 12 cm housing... at the same time I added DD3's. At wot with the EZ and the 3's the max egt I see is 1150. I can turn on my PE and play a little, but the egt will still get out of hand. Before the PDR turbo I could get the egt out of hand with just the PE and 275's.

I believe that the PDR turbo spools up just as fast as the HY and is a worthy investment. However you may want to look at the Piers modified HX40's if you tow... . and if you want to tow at wot, I guess you would have to look at one of KwikKurts B1 Bomber turbos..... Good luck and If that price you quoted is still good I would jump on it.

By the way... welcome back to the boards.

I just installed my PDR HX 14 cm from my stock HY after installing DD11,s. It does spool up as fast as the hy but unfortunately my egt,s are higher than before, but i,m pretty certain it is due to my stock 3" exhaust which is going to be changed this week. Will report backwhen that is on the truck.

Arcticat, Piers' SuperTurbo with a 14cm housing would be a good setup for the power your aiming for.

The SuperTurbo comes with a 12cm housing, so no need to get a different one, unless you decide to go to the 14cm housing.

I have run this setup for a while now, and I like the quickness in spoolup, and everyday drivability, plus towing.

I have the PDR HX35/14 and it works great! Bought mine without ex housing. I've tried one hard mountain pull(up to Genesee w/rv)at WOT(3200rpm in 4th) and barely hit 1250 with the plate slightly forward. It's plenty of turbo for mine. I don't want to break the clutch barrier! This turbo is supposed to be good to 350hp. Piers' new HX40 might be necessary for megafueling. Craig

I've got one mated to a 16 cm non-wastegated housing. I have DDIIs, and a PM Comp 10-level box. Going from a 12 to 16 caused a slight lag, but not much. Once it comes on, though, it really honks. My main reason for the 16 was to help my EGTs while towing. It seems to have helped around 150 degrees. That's just what I needed. Also, my highway mileage has really gone up. Now getting 21 unloaded, and 15 loaded. I'm happy with Piers' work and service. First Class!

I've had mine on for about 6 months now and have totally work it over. I have taken it to 48# of boost, had some serious turbo bark come out of it and it still hasen't broke.

I wish I would of waited for the new HX-40 thou, oh well.

Good luck
