RMR Tonight!!!

May madness attendance poll

I just wanted to post up an offer to all the clubers and anyone else to come up to 29 Palms/Joshua Tree for an all day trail ride. 4 wheel drives are not optional on this ride. There is a great trail from the top of Joshua Tree National Park to the Coachella Valley. The ride takes about 4 hours and is only a one day event. It is a part of the park few people see and is very beautiful. If people who do not have 4x4's want to come. There are plenty of quad cab truck out there to haul some people too. We will be staging at my house and will return there a few hours later. On the way back to the house, we will have a bite to eat, and head home. Others can leave from from the end of the trail. It exits at 1000 Palms Canyon and heads right to HWY 10. We also could do a ride up the fire roads to Big Bear City and have lunch there. It also is a great ride. Post on the poll to show interest.

Thanks, Greg

Last time I ran that canyon I came across an entire herd of Bighorn sheep. Is the brush still thick enough to tear up the paint?

Bob

Is it full size friendly???? How about a date????

I don't have a CTD yet (will be doing a 1st gen crew cab conversion soon) but I have my '99 2500 V10 4x4 in the mean time. Would enjoy meeting some new people.

I am going to run the trail tomorrow)Thursday( to check for brush and tough spots. I was thinking the first or second weekend of November. I have seen lots of sheep up in the park. I will bring the camera tomorrow and get a couple of photos... .

Greg

November 6th is the date I have been looking at. I will post tonight after the pre run. We had alot of heavy rain this year and only half of the trail is maintained. Wish me luck!!!

Sorry, sounds like y'all are gonna have a blast, I just don't have the time. Too bad there aren't any nice trails around these parts. I might be able to squeeze something in if it was a little more local... ... :{

Only 2. 5 hrs from SD... .

Greg,

Could I get by with stock tires or do I need All-Terrain tires? I am experienced and my truck has the limited slip axle.

Greg,

Thanks for the response. My experience with most of the desert trails I've ridden or driven in that part of the desert easily passable with my truck, I just wanted check since you were going to pre-run it. Hopefully the date you schedule will work out for me, I've been looking for an excuse to try out the 4 wheel drive.

John Cooper

John,

That date is great for me. I would hope a couple of other guys would come too. Bit if not, we can do it alone. It is an easy ride and only will take a couple of hours. We could go to Big Bear instead. It takes a little longer and is much a much nicer trail.

Greg

what time on the 6th... is it still the sixth. were should we meet?

joshua tree to desert to big bear... is that right?

We can meet at my house. Then leave from here in a group. If we go through JT then it will only take a couple of hours. We will be dumped out on HWY 10 in Indio and Washington ST. If we go to BB it will be an all day ride and we will be able to have lunch up in the mountains. I would rather go to BB and leave at 8 am. You guys can PM me for directions to my house. I will leave it open and up to everyone on where they want to go.

For those who are interested,

We will be doing a ride from Pioneer Town above Yucca Valley, CA to Big Bear, Ca. It will go through Burns Canyon all the way to Holcomb Valley. There is alot of fresh snow and the trails will be great. No DUST!!! We will be meeting at Denny's in Yucca at 8:30 AM on Saturday November, 6Th. If you are interested, Call me at 760-819-9551. The trip takes about two hours up the hill and then lunch. There are a few Quad Cab truck going that can haul people without 4x4's. This is not a Dodge Ram exclusive run. My dad is bringing his jeep. He says so he can pull us out if we get stuck... . ? Yea Right!!!

OK,

We will meet at Denny's in Yucca Valley. I will be there at 8:15 am. We will leave at 9:30 and travel up to Big Bear City. We will be meeting at noon in the Village. Chads Place is a Bar/lunch place. Lots of seating, rustic and fun. I will be coming home the same way as we came up. IF you want to, you can go down the hwy home.
