Off Roading POLL: best mud tire for 5" lift

Competition Match Race of 2006

I believe you mean Arias pistons, and Mr. Barry Sadler. Keith's name is spelled Lockliear.

So where does Joseph Donnelly fit into the mix here ?? If it's so important to fix misspelling's you've got to fit in here somewhere!!!

I personally hope Comp does win, he's the only one sharing ideas (except for Mr Bentz, thanks) and pretty much the only one that is promoting diesel motorsports in the "general" eye. The Edge truck is only promoting their own diesel motorsports truck with the "i have alot of money to burn" appeal through high dollar false advertisments in the magazines they shell all their cash out to.

Anyhow, all 3 mentioned here clearly have alot to brag about.

My . 02, let me know if the edge truck needs it towards the next batch of tires.

very well said curtis, i dont think that the edge truck will need a new set of tires anytime soon, ya never hear about it running. makes a pretty show truck but like comp said, his has earned its road rash. so does it look like there will be a run for the trucks in indy yet? it would be a great time.

Well all this talk and still have not heard from the infamous edge drag team you would have thought by now someone would respond but looks like they won't take a challenge and try to prove comp wrong keep up the good work Mr. Comp.

. . My bet on the Schied rail is, pulling power does not translate to drag race power. Believe me, it's not the same. I think Eric knows how to get the speed and Dan the power, but the way to get there is not the same. We have trucks making 732-761 HP on the dyno-jet, diesel only. On some other dyno's that will be over 1000 HP, but not here. Even then it has to me put to the track. We'll see.

Another thing I noticed on our trip to Houston last Dec, the NHRA starters needs to let the diesels stage their own way, not like a gasser. From what I saw they do not understand what it takes to spool a set of twins on the line.

And one more thing, when you folks give credits on drag racing progress, remember Jeff Garmon has been running his race truck for 4 years on his own budget and the white race truck never lost a race till I got it in my shop and killed it. 9. 97 ET on diesel at 138 MPH in Houston ain't what I'd call just just luck.

Joe is our on site proof reader. Every site needs one.

. . And Greg, keep hammering till we get the race. You know what we call people that stay in the closet down here? Well then those need to stay there.

Just my thoughts.

"CALLING OUT THE EDGE TRUCK PUT UP OR SHUT UP"

winner donates 5000$ to charity

"the weasel" (now that's funny ... i don't care who you are)

sounds pretty simple to me

all the DD cheerleaders on here can whine all day

whether you like comp or not at least he's man enough to back it up

i'll pay to see this Oo.

I'm desperately needed on this site, Turbo. :)

The name is Scheid not Schied.

Cheerleaders need to learn how to spell their heroes' names :D

Also, there is a difference between calling yourself "Doc" and actually having an earned doctorate from an accredited university.

Cheerio!

Tom you are exactly right, the type ye of power used in truck pulling is different from what is required in drag racing, in truck pulling motors you spin the motor up as high as possible to start the pull, and as the weight and bite come in the motor pulls down, in drag racing the engine has to have the ability to Rev-Gain or accelerate up. I heard of one of the big shops truck pulling 5. 9 Cummins making 1400 hp, but the dyno operator said that the 30 seconds need to spool and the copious amounts of smoke would have precluded it from ever being a drag motor. When the same motor was subjected to a acceleration pull, the results were different, the motor made a little over 850 hp. a loss of over 550 hp, in a Pro Stock motor the motors make around 1350 hp on acceleration ramps, at a steady pull they only gain about 25, this is due in that in drag motor we tune towards acceleration rates, even go as far as having different timing curves for each gears acceleration rate. The work going in our motor programs are geared towards the same goal. I also believe that all the smoke is a primary factor of lazy motor, a team we use in drag racing

Tom I have great respect for what Jeff has accomplished with the white truck in the past, he has helped diesel motor sports along greatly. I was confident from the splits, and potential gains that Jeff’s truck could have run a mid 9 second pass. I felt that there wasn’t any track there,, in reality the track that Sunday was terrible. I had a hard time getting a hold of the track after the 300 foot of concrete from the 300 foot times thou I am sure that my pass there would have been a mid 8 second run , had the track been there.

COMP,

So what your saying is a shop that is capable of making a 1400hp B series engine on fuel only, is not capable of making an engine of say 900hp for drag racing purposes?

Not with the tune ups they are use to, over fueling will not work, and there is know time to spool with the huge turbo’s need to light the over fuel condition. You can make all the power in the world, but if it will not work in the race car or truck, then you can’t put numbers on the board. Another deal is in NHRA you get 10 seconds to stage after the other guy is in, this will not change so if you want to race you have to learn to make it get up on the chargers and leave.

OK Schieds vs Bentz... . I have to go Bentz. I'm a big fan of Schieds pulling trucks, but I think it's to early to be able to tell what their car will run. They can make the power, there is no doubt. They can make it rev, there is no doubt. Scott has been running his car for years now, and has worked out many bugs that the other guys have yet to find.

I'm Rooting on both... . or should I say all 4 of these vehilces..... but there has to be a winner... and that would be my choice.

Well depending upon the top-end tuning of the EDGE truck, I still think this is a toss up...

COMP - I notice you run a p-pumped truck, EDGE runs an 04 engine, BUT it is a p-pumped engine too, right?

Heck, I have no idea.

12v block, 12v head. That was the last time I saw it race @ Weekend on the Edge 2004 @ Rocky Moutain Raceway.

Edges truck pushes the 4000 pound limit, while Greg's is about 2750.

Do the math???

Greg, show up to MM 05 and they will have to race.

I voted for Greg.

My beef is with their marketing department , and the attempt to steamroll the media and bully the media in to presenting them with the be all to end all greatest diesel truck.

I am not seeing Dr. Performance's marketing any better. He just tries to find newbees and screws them with crazy prices. I myself walked into his place 2 1/2 years ago with my first diesel truck(being a 12v) wanting some more power. They quoted me $2200 dollars for 120hp. I thought it would be smart to look around and I found a thing called a torque plate that would add 80hp for $200 dollars. So I thought; what the hell, I can live without 40hp. So I bought it and took it up to Dr. P's to get them to install it. They freaked out and told me the T/P would for sure burn up my engine and talked me into returning it. While I was there talking to them, I asked them about chips for my dads old 24v. I was told all chips and anything that dumps fuel to the engine is the DEVIL to diesel trucks! ????? ????? And was told Doc is the one who basically invented the first programs for the 24v trucks and blah blah blah blah.

A few year later I bought the truck I have now and went up to John Robinson of Texas Diesel Power and he hooked me up with a EDGE COMP that made 120hp and for only $650. That is quiet a difference in price don't you think? From $2200 to $650. And I can tell you right now, I have out ran every Dr. Performance truck I have every faced. I feel pretty bad for all of them because I know they paid a lot of $$$ w/ Doc to out perform these plug and play trucks.

A couple of months ago I was going around ebay looking for some deals and something caught my eye. A Dr. Performance plug and play chip for the Third Generation guys. What's the deal? I thought they were bad for the trucks?

Anyways sorry for the rambling folks,my point is Doc sticks a huge bill to people that don't know any better and bad mouths any other product out there that just might be better.

Due to some past problems at a dairy farm, I was told I no longer have my elective privileges and I'm not allowed to possess firearms. If I voted, would I be violating any probational regulations
