i have just installed a hamilton cam in my truck and was wondering if anyone knows what the cam gear retaining bolt is so posed to be torqued to the cam didnt come with anything to say that any help would be grateful thank you
The factory Cummins retaining bolt is a torque-to-yield bolt with M12 x 1. 75 threads and a skinny, reduced diameter shank. It is emphatically not re-usable. Their specification is 20 ft-lb plus 180 degrees of tightening. Conventional grade 8. 8, 10. 9 or 12. 9 bolts are often used instead and they would be torqued to conventional specifications in the range of 70, 80, or 90 ft-lb.
