Ok, I've searched enough. I have decided on a #10 plate. I only have one question. Which one? BD has a #10 plate, I can pick that one up for $175 at a local shop. TST plates are a bit more and not avaiable locally that I know of, but they are the ONLY one I have read about on this board.

The little lists that each company has listing their plates and the advertised power output look real similar, but are a little different:

http://www.bd-power.com/ram/product.php?pn=Mechanical Engine Performance&tt=ram

Click "Fuel Stop Plate Specifications" on that page for the BD plates. I know these are manufactured by floppyheads in Canada and I'm pretty damn sure they aren't the same as TST plates.

Which company manufactures THESE plates?

These are TST plates obviously, but boy does that list sure look like the BD list... .

I'm confused. How many damn companies make these, and why do they imitate each other's web page to make them look all the same? If the BD #10 plate plate is identical to the TST #10 plate, then that's easy. I'll buy it here for $175.

If it's NOT the same, I'd like to know what's different between that one and the TST plate and why I should buy brand X over brand Z.

As far as I know a #10 is the same plate everywhere... . unless it is custom grounded to fit the profile of the typical #10. I bought mine from Piers diesel and from looking at the others(BD, TST) they look the same. So, I would just buy the BD if it is the cheapest. It will be the same and give you the same results as a TST or Piers plate.

I've also noticed some cheap ones on ebay. Not sure who is making them, or as your question implies, if they are diiferent than the "standard" #10 plate.

Here's a link:

Ebay #10 Cam Plate

If these are the same, then it's a pretty good deal at $75. 00...

TST was the first company to develop high performance fuel plates for the Cummins 5. 9. Some companies buy and sell genuine TST plates, unfortunately a lot of companies decided it was easier to just copy TST's design. Are the copies as good as the origanals? Hard to say, we only sell genuine TST plates. As for pricing, they are listed on our web site for $195. 00, less your TDR 10% discount = $175. 50

"less your TDR 10% discount = $175. 50

Awww man, I have been a member of TDR for about 4 months now and I bought a #10 plate through you guys for $200. Nobody said anything about getting a discount for being a TDR member. Can you hook me up and give me that discount, Piers?:)

You probably will not get any HP gain, because the #10 plate doesn't fuel the engine as much as the #5. I would stick with the #5, unless you are looking to get better fuel mileage and want to go to the #10. Per your sig, I would retard that timing back some if your going to go to a #10, maybe to 16*. Anyone agree?

Thanks for the replies - I did not mean to hijack this thread... I think I will stick to my #5 - from looking at the charts on the links above the #10 at the bottom shows lots of hp where the #5 is n/a or not on the chart. I have a B-1 turbo on the way to help burn the excess fuel I have with my current mods... Thanks again! Jack
