I have my rig in the shop it getting needed adjustments . valves, fuel pump timing, replace the fuel lines. They put it on the Dyno and it squeeled at 276HP. They suggested I put a cam plate in and said they could get it up to 326 HP . I have a heavy duty Southbend Con clutch. Well Iam confused. It has a #6 fuel plate now. Is the cam plate something different they want to install. I dont understand. Please explain

Ok Now I get it. I thought so. Cam plate fuel plate or torgue plate all meaning the same. Well Its a 300 hundred dollar upgrade and I get 50 HP more. I can live with that.

why?

a cam plate doesn't cost that much even from the most expensive source! do they realize that you've already got an aftermarket plate in there?

well... I wouldn't say "ripped", but you can get new plates for $150ish, they don't take much to install, and you could turn around and sell your plate for $75-100.

but if you're not doing the install yourself, I don't know what they'd charge you on the install.

it sounds a little high to me, but not high enough to feel bad about it later :p

my question is what plate are they putting in there? I've never been one to just have stuff installed that I don't KNOW exactly what's being installed, ya know?

What are they charging you for labor? I am not a profesional mechanic but I have done about 6 cam plate changes and the last one took only 1 hr. I know there are TDR guys out there who can do it in less time than that. You might want to ck around and see if it can be done for less. You can buy the plates for less than they quoted and I am sure some of the other TDR guys in your area would help install it.

Just my opiniion.

Thanks I will question them a little. They have a very good reputation. but Iam traveling soon and need to get this handle. Around 100 labor. Thanks for the suggestions for alternatives. Sometimes you just pay to get it done and over with
