Cam Plates?????

I would appreciate input on Cam Plates. I am new to this, and I will upgrade my transmission and BOMB my Ram. One of my objectives is to enjoy the Ram through tinkering with it.



I realize I am asking for opinions, of which there will be disagreement. If there is no disagreement, I will have received limited input.



Feel free to be as technical as you wish, but please state why on each item. If I have overlooked something, please add it.



1. Preferred Manufacture?



2. Preferred Vender (if different from manufacture)



3. Who do you prefer for drags?



4. Who do you prefer for towing?



5. Who do you prefer for pulling?

TST is the outfit that started this replacement plate business. The guy that runs it is a retired Cummins engineer. I really like my TST #5, but it is not recommended for a stock auto trans. If you are planning on upgrading your trans then that's the one I recommend. Eventually (when I can save enuff nickles) I will replace my stock injectors so I can really get the power from this plate. Just as it is it really goes well.

I agree with getting a TST plate! Don't forget the EGT and Boost gauges first. I'm partial to the SPA dual digital gauge.

As was already stated, gauges first, then let the bombing begin. Almost any of the vendors on here are reputable, if they weren't, folks would let you know in a hurry. I bought my plate from the same place that I bought my gauges, all at the same time. Good luck in your search.

TST #11 for me but its a 5spd. TST are good folks with great service. Call them and ask whats best for what you want to do, they wont steer you wrong.

Cmon John, you need to stick a #10 in there. Fun to drive. Good thing I run empty 99. 5% of the time. Cause I couldn't imagine pulling any kind of heavy weight with this plate. EGT's go up Real quick. Looks like I need to save up for a new turbo too.

Jeff Burke – I agree almost any of the vendors on here are reputable, however, the "almost" venders I would like to avoid.



When I go to Ram functions, people are more verbal on who they prefer, who they avoid and why. These functions are local, therefor limited in scope. While people tend not to express negatives, I hope they would promote good service, cost, good products, etc.



Everyone – So far, it would appear there is indifference to products and venders. I am surprised to see this , with so many posts on other subjects.



I appreciate the post so far. I guess Piers and/or TST are the only Cam Plate venders with happy customers.



Could use more input.

Hows that truck runnin for ya? Did you get her on a dyno yet?

I installed the 3400 rpm gov spring kit a few weeks back in my truck.

I know you said you wanted it.

I am going to the 4000 rpm kit next week. Ill send ya this one if you want. Free!



I got it installed in less than 30 minutes. Piece of cake. It is super cool man. I cant tell you how this things roars with the gov springs.



Do you have a 16 housing on that rig? I have one of those too.

The G Tech said 355hp but who knows, no dyno yet. The springs would be really appreciated and I have a 16 housing waiting for the time to install it, thanks anyway. Cant wait till I recover from Xmas stuff cause I need a clutch. Come down this Sunday and check out all the trucks. cumminsgetme will be there and is turning 97mph 1/4 mile times.

I dont think I can make the trip on Sunday. I am running up to Tulsa to do a dyno event with the Okies on Sat.



I bet your close to 350 too. I was at 348 with your same mods plus a 16 housing. There is about 20 or so horsies there.

The lag is more though.



I have a fuel delivery problem Im trying to get figured out right now. Im only about 400 and should be much higher with my mods.

Does one of you guys have a timing kit? I think my timing has slipped a tad.



Maybe you guys should all come to Tulsa!!! Its only about 4. 5 hours from Dallas.
