gooseneck + slide in dump bed...is it possible?

So I need to fasten a 9. 5' camper to my 99' 2500. I know there are a number of ways to do this. Is there a consensus on which is the best method as far as strength, ease of use and something streamlined that doesn't look silly when the camper isn't attached? Any and all input welcome. Thanks folks!:D

I had mine mounted with "ears" mounted to the front of the bed, and "bolts" on the rear bumper on my last truck. I thought it was OK till I tried my new mounts.

On the New truck I went to a metal shop and bought some Square tubing. You will find one size can slide into the rear trailer hitch, I put a pin through the hitch to hold it in place.

For the front I welded up 2 mounts to hold a piece of 2" square tubing off the frame enough to clear the fuel tank. Then I slide 2 smaller pieces into the 2" that stick out far enough for the camper. Then I use those spring loaded turnbuckles to hold the camper on.

Or you can buy the store bought stuff if you got the funds.

Just stay away from the ears that bolt to the bed, I thought they looked a little weak, but never had a problem. If you decide to go with them, make me an offer, I got the setup from camping world.

Torklifts

Torklift frame mounts are the way to go IMHO. Kinda pricey but unless you can built your own or have them built, they're the only game in town.

I have their Super Hitch on the truck as I intend to tow with an 11' camper aboard. It can have up to a 48" drawbar on it. Pretty heavy duty hitch.

The Stablelift camper mount system is supposed to be pretty neat but spendy. I've not seen one myself. Dewdo, a frequent poster here, will undoubtedly be happy to give you a rundown of the system if you desire. He seems pretty tickled with his rig.

I have had both on my 99 2500 4x4 Quad Cab, first the Happy Jack (bolt to the the bed and bumper) :( and then Torklift (frame mount) :) I must say the frame unit its the way to go. One problem I had with the frame mount on my 99 is they don't fit my new 03 so I had to buy a new torklift kit. So now I have a kit in my garage for a 99 2500 4x4 Quad Cab ;) . I will be going on vacation out to Oregon the last two weeks of June and I may stop in Seattle for a cup of coffee :D . Let me know if I can be of help.

Torklift Mounts

Hey Don, I may be interested in taking them off your hands. Throw me an e-mail... . limbbender@earthlink.net

The StableLift system from Montana is the way to go!!! :) :)  It is so cool. I run a 9 1/2" S&S, in 7 minutes, I can have the camper off the truck and level..... ready to go. This way I can easily use my truck as a runner and have a rock solid camper to use. I have three worm drive jacks ran by electric motors operated from one location. So sweet!! :D :D

There is a 3" dia tube cradle that jacks down to support the camper to lift and jacks up to "receivers" mounted to frame under the truck to secure the camper to truck for traveling. Very easy!!Oo. Oo.

I'll comebacks with the web site.

Rich

Sorry it took a couple of days to get back to you. The website for the StableLift camper lift system is www.stablelift.com.

I feel that this is the best system on the market for cab-over campers (not off-road material) :D :) :--)
