Are there any campgrounds between Childress, TX and Amarillo, TX off of Hwy 287. There used to be a campground at the Best Western in Childress, but I would like to go a little further than Childress. I have checked Trailer Life Campground reference and have not found very much. Your help is appreciated.

The Circle C RV Park is about a mile south of Clarendon on US 287 on the west side of the highway. It's pretty plain, but full hookups and OK for an overnight stop. They have restrooms and showers, but I don't know the condition since we use our own.

I don't think it is listed in the Trailer Life Campground Guide.

Good luck,

Bill

If you can go a little farther, just down the street from the Flying J in Amarillo, turn north on the bypass and the Overnight RV park is there on the left. Big pull thrus and the next morning... ..... ZOOM... you are gone!

Also remember the "Free" city park overnight RV park in Dumas.

Barry,

You forgot to mention the airplanes!! The approach to the Amarillo airport is right over the Overnight RV park and the planes come in at tree-top height!! Landing isn't so bad, but the take-offs will roll you out of bed!!

But wait there's more... the military also uses the airport for "touch and go's" and those big transport planes are loud!!

The Amarillo KOA isn't much better... it's on the north side of the airport!

Bill, last time I was there I was so tired I would'nt have known if the planes came thru the trailer... ... ... ... ...

The other alternative is staying in the parking lot of the stores that begin with "W". But I will keep the identity secret for fear of starting another thread war... ... ... ... ... ...
