Campground membership ?????

So what do you all have for experience with the different campground memberships out there.



Thousand trails is kinda spendy, Camping World has something that is called Campclub, what else and what do you all like.



I was at Camping world today and saw that they have The Campclub and they advertise it as 50% off campsites and $39. 95/year.



Out in front of Camping world was a guy from a local RV Resort selling something for Coast to Coast resorts. He said that their cheapest which they lose money on is $385/year. That is the yearly dues, they are currently waiving the $2,000 sign up charge. That gets you $10/night camping at a number of sites across the US.



I don't know if any of these are worth having, but we do camp a lot and if I can get into places for $10/night or 50% off that would sure add up.

Well, they don't work well for us. We stay at a lot of campgrounds in a years time, but expecting one of theirs to be where you are ready to go or stop for the night never seems to work. We belonged to both of those you mentioned, it just was not a sound purchase.

Strangely enough, we HAVE found the Good Sam membership to pay for itself, lots of discount camping grounds, discounts for fuel and food are nice too!.

I think it really depends on your particular type RV travels and what you expect in camping.

I currently have AAA and Good Sam, they both seem to get about a 10% discount at a lot of RV parks.

I bought a used Thousand Trails membership for $600. 00 and had to pay TT's a transfer fee..... and they upped the annual dues...

We've had the used membership... . TT and Naco for about 3 years now... . and we've used it at least 5 weeks a year since... . Usually at the beach and in Las Vegas... .

I travel to Vegas 1 once a year on business and usually drive... . am there 8-10 days... I save at least $1000. 00 in room rent... as I used to stay in the convention hotel...

It took me 14 months to find a used membership... but I'm guessing that this summer there will be a lot who want to get out... what took me the time was to find someone who was willing to part and wasn't still making payments... .

I'm 2-3 years from retirement... and guess as the time goes on we will use it more... . it was right for us... . just for the Vegas trip once a year... .

We have had a Thousand Trails/NACO for about 22 years & have enjoyed it very much. We have never had a problem getting a site but when we go on a trip we plan ahead so that we can book a site on the web. If you are looking for TTN/NACO I would recommend looking into a used one. We also have Passport America, you have to watch because a lot of their's are not the best.

I have the good sam membership as well. It helps to save a few bucks.

Passport America,Happy Camper and Camp Club are the half off clubs that cost around $40 a year. Coast to Coast, Thousand trails and others offer their own park exclusively to members and guests and they cost sometimes thousands of dollars and you must sell the membership if you decide to quit camping or keep paying misc. fees.

For me PA works for the kind of travelling we do and usally save two to three times the cost over the year. I also have Goodsam card for the majority of the parks we stay at(10% off) and you get a magazine and a free source of junkmail to heat your home if you have a woodstove:-laf

A used Thousand trails membership would be something I would look seriously at.



I do know someone who may want to get rid of theirs at the end of the year, it is paid for already. I just am not completely sure on what level of membership it is.

There is a yahoo group of TT members... . you might check there... with a membership number TT won't tell you a lot... but will tell if the membership is up to date and what comes with it... .

We've looked at some of the upgrades and to be honest they aren't for us today... . maybe sometime in the future... but you need to list features on one side of a sheet and the down side on the other... . also remember that most of the time in the summer you need reservations for any long stays... .

You might just go over to Seaside, Pacific City or one of other parks on the coast and check them out... . or their web sight...

Good info, thanks. We stayed at the TT in Bend last summer right after we bought our trailer. It was a very nice park, but the $$$ for membership just didn't pan out.

I bought my TT membership on EBAY. I find a lot more of these for sale between Jan and April. I purchased a membership that they would sell you for between 8 to 13K in the area I live and had a total of 1400 by the time I paid all of the BS they want you to pay. I can tell you the membership options are mind boggling. I must have called on a dozen of them until I found the one I liked--if you or anyone else are serious make a posting on here and i will try to write a list of questions you need to ask corporate when you get the membership number--remember do not ask the member because a lot of the features change when the membership changes hands

I have a life time membership with Western Horizons. I have no dues and stay for free. (Well its free after the original price) Sometimes there is a 3 dollar power fee.

We like it but won't get the benefits of having it until I have more time to travel and use it.
