5er question

Whos coming to The NJ area from TX.

We're going to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for a couple days next week and then on to some friends' in Maryland, the B&O RR Museum in Baltimore and whatever else we decide along the way. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to camp for a couple days near Gettysburg? We don't need much in the way of conveniences for two nights, but water and electric would be nice.

Thanks,

Blake

I've lived in the Gettysburg area most of my life.

I would suggest Granite Hill Campground, there # is 717-642-8749. They are about 5 miles west of Gettysburg on RT 116.

If you need better access to highways going to Baltimore, there is Round Top campground #717-334-9565 they are east of Gettysburg maybe 2-3 miles, right off of Rt 15 which is a major highway.

If you need anymore help on the area, send me a email at -- email address removed --

Good Luck and have a good time.

Blakers,

We've camped at Gettysburg Campground twice; Labor Day weekend the last two years. It's a real nice place and the people who own it are super nice. It's in the same vacinity as Granite Hill. There's also Roundtop and Drummer Boy campgrounds. Drummer Boy has really good ratings.

camping at Gettysbugh

My wife and I camped at Drummer Boy and we really liked it. Don't have the number but I think they have a web site.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys! We decided to stay at Granite Hill Campground and would highly recommend it. A very big campground (area wise) with open and wooded lots. And many other things to do to. Nice people. Quiet and convenient location. Priced right too.

We ended up staying 4 nights instead of 2 as we planned. Turned out the friend of Ann's that we were going to visit (and planned on staying at) lived in a housing development and didn't have any place for us to park our 24 ft TT. Worked out best in the long run.

We camped next to another CTD with a 5-er. A nice couple from Utah with a Red 97 5 speed and big dog. Met up with them later on at the battlefield in Gettysburg, but never caught their name. He said he was on some Internet Dodge-Cummins site, but not sure if it was TDR.

Then we went on to Lancaster County for one day and stayed at Walmart for the night. Cheap and only spent $59 in Walmart!! haha.

It would be nice if the TDR administration could make a listing of campgrounds that are recommended and that may offer discounts for TDR members. It would benefit the campgrounds and the members looking for a place to stay.

Thanks,

Blake
