Someone recently posted about a new performance camshaft for the 04. 5 they just had installed at one of the above places, but I can't find it.

Anyone have any info?

Thanks,

Jim

Overall the truck is quieter, runs smoother, better mileage.

I must sound like a broken record :-laf

Overall power, well it is sort of hard to tell. It has finally starting warming up and I have done a bunch of mods in the last 2 months. Its hard to put the finger on one mod unless you do them one at a time (but I would do this one again in a heart beat!).

I can hear a difference in the engine, more valve train noise. Like a shuffling sound (in a good way!).

if I'm not mistaken the 3rd gens camshaft is the same as the 2nd gen 24v cam. Its just a carry over part. So why the need to "develop" a new cam when there are a few out there already?

Ive heard that the 3rd gen cams have more overlap.

The 3rd gen cams are not the same as the 2nd gen. More overlap, but the biggest problam is they retarded the timing 7 degrees. I put one of our 24v grinds into my 04. 5, mileage went up 2mpg, but turbo cool down time increased & the bottom end wasn't as good as the stock cam. Made a different grind, mileage came up another 1mpg, cool down time & throttle response is better than stock. Overall hp & torque didn't change, but it comes on quicker and the tourqe stays in longer. Towing fuel mileage went from 9mpg to 12mpg, that's averging 63mph from the Washinton border to southern Ca. and back.

So Piers, is this cam you're using now available for purchase? It's not listed on your site.

What effects did all of this do to your egt's?

Hi Scott, no, it's not on our web site yet. i wanted to run a test on a single charger truck to verify everything, before we release it. Horace Mast has volunteered to test it in a single charger truck... . I don't want to pull my twins off.

an average drop of 75 degrees is what I see.

On a 65 degree day, cruise flat ground at 63mph, boost is 7psi, egt's 650, that's towing a 30' 5th wheel, truck and trailer gross out at 19K
