Can A 1150 Cummins Be Stopped?

Some of you truckers know what I'm talking about. Went to a tractor pull with about a dozen or more semi trucks did there turn at the near end of the show. There were 4 trucks with the 1150 Cummins in them. All 4 pulled past the 300 foot mark. One truck hits the brakes just befor the Hay bales and the sled bonks him in the rear. Thats over 60,000 pounds of sled being pulled buy a truck that weighs in at 17,000 pounds. The 600 horse Cats ran out of steam at about the 295 to 300 ft mark. Bummer!

At the end of the show we were treated with an exhibition from a super semi. This is no street legal machine here. It was built to hall the sled down the track. It was an old Pete cab over. Powered by a V12 detroit diesel with 4 TURBOS. The stacks well chimney's were wow big. Yes there was BBBBBBBBBBlack smoke like you would'nt believe. The sound well that just puts a smile on every bodys face.

sled pulling rigs

Okay, I've only seen these diesel powered rigs a couple of times on TNN on a show called "Trucks and Tractor Power". I would do anything to see some pics/video/sound bites of this sort of action... . this is what I consider to be diesel nirvana! I need to feed my need for high HP diesel fun!!

Not many real diesels , but some burn stove fuels...



The last I saw an 1150 was in a test cell at the U of M (Minnesota in case you are confused). They were using it for alternate fuels research. Alcohol was a flop. The electronic variable injection timing system was ... . I think we know the rest.

It was an NTPA event at the Carver county fair. Wich is in Waconia MN. New Germany has been doing semi trucks now for just a couple of years.

Check NTPA schedule at there site. They also hace a picture gallery too look at.

check out www.bigrigspuling.com most of these events in northeast and mid west. . i jsust saw soem this past weekend at chenago county fair in norwich ny. . 1/2 north of oneonta... anyhow they are awesome. . i have seen them in greenwich ny . . by saratoga too. . i know they run em up in lowvill, and fonda, and in pa alot. . look up that website and the events scedule. . this weekend is diesel drags out in salem ohio... . ddra points event
