Short answer, yes.

I can certainly tell a difference between my ‘18 HO that made 930 and my ‘22 HO that makes 1075, but the gearing is also lower on the ‘22.

Between the gearing and power output the ‘22 can put down up to 24.6% more torque to the rear wheels.

It’s very noticeable below 1500 rpms. Above 1500 there is a
seat of the pants feel but the engine pulls the same grades at the same weight and speed at a lower load percentage, so it has more power on tap if needed.

Gearing is important. A ‘22 SO can put out nearly the same rear wheel torque as a ‘18 HO, and more than a ‘17 HO. It’s all close, but goes to show what the change from the standard 3.42 to 3.73 did.

What gears are in that DRW?

I never had to choose For me it was go big or stay home. You can never have to much power. But I chose power over options on my tradesman regular cab long box. 61 k not 94 k

Check the Dynojet results at May Madness events. The 370, 385, and 400 HP engines all made about 350 HP best. The 400 HO did give a broader HP curve, meaning it was at or near max HP over a broader HP range than the others.

I remember driving a new 19 DRW with AISIN at May Madness. The seat of the pants was exactly the same as my measly 385/865 2015 Cummins/AISIN same 4.10's.
