Can a Dealer Install illuminated visor vanity mirrors?

I had my headliner off recently and the plugs are already there for the lighted vanity mirrors, at least on my 96 they were.

The 2001. 5's don't come with lighted vanity mirrors anymore,just like you no longer get the tailgate moulding. Dodge is getting cheap while jacking up the prices. I'm sure you can easily install them though...

The sticker shows them to be there, so does the quote I got from several dealers. The DC RAM brochure also says that they have them.

A truck with a $38,330 sticker should have a $5. 00 part on the sun visor...

This is the stuff Japanese trucks are made of, my Dad's Nissan has the same style cheap crappy visors that my new $38,330 Dodge RAM has. Looks like DC has ruined the RAM.

There is power there for the onboard computer, so it should also be there for the vanity mirrors.

Maybe I should reject the truck and go get the cheapest truck I can find, a rice burner. Is that what DC wants??? I will see what the zone rep says...

Does DC have employee's that read the TDR message boards? I would hope that the quality would go up so there are less of us frustrated by marketing.

These issues burn me up, the price of the truck goes up and the options get removed...

Can a dealer install illuminated visor vanity mirrors without trashing my new truck? Should I just ask for the parts and put them in myself? I am worried that they are going to have to splice wires or run new wire with no cable tray.

I can't believe they built a truck to order and did it wrong. It seems the boyz in Fenton, MS cannot seem to get an order right. These are the things I have found on my truck:

. ) One stone chip on the driver side door at the very bottom, looks like the door was opened and smacked something that was the thee same height as the bottom of the door.
. ) No grease on the rubber stops for the tailgate or the tailgate rubber hinge.
. ) The fender area that is covered by a closed tailgate has such light paint that you can see the primer, most likely because it was painted by a machine.
. ) Illuminated visor vanity mirrors were not on truck, non illuminated ones were.

Maybe a taco truck would have been right...

Yes,I know that the 2001 Ram brochure and say that the travel convenience group come with lighted vanity mirrors,but these so called "2001. 5's" that we have come to know have many different items than the original 2001 had. That's why there is always a discalimer about equipment changes in the brochures. How do you think a guy felt that ordered a 12 valve back in mid '98 then ended up with a 24 valve? I'm sure it happened.

Here's a few things different between the original 2001 and the 2001. 5's... .
*4-wheel disc brakes
*all trucks come with 4-wheel ABS
*spring loaded intercooler clamps
*single-leaf auxiliary springs
*child seat teathers on the rear seat
*no tailgate moulding
*no lighted vanity mirrors
*no more "fruity pebble" pattern on cloth center console/seat
*steering wheel has a new raised horn/airbag pad

There were alot of changes that the brochure didn't tell us about. Oh,don't forget about paint color choices.

I gladly take the 4 wheel ABS disc brakes instead of the lighted vanity mirrors. Did the price go up on the 01. 5 over the 2001?
