so i bought this truck a while back its a 89 1 ton i havent driven it yet except around the yard and it wasnt driven for about 8 months before i got it but it churns out a nice blue haze and if its idling and i put it to the floor it puts out a good amount of blue but it feels like a gas engine when its loaded up or starting to foul a plug then it clears out and runs smooth but still smokes could the injectors be leaking from sitting it starts right up and sound real nice its supposed to have about a 150000 on it but dodge forgot to put the 6th digit on my odometer so i cant be sure thanks for any suggestions

A diesel won't "load up" like a gasser but the same symptoms show up when injectors, pump, or timing starts having issues. As it has sat for a while fresh fuel and some injector cleaner would be a good start plus a fresh fuel filter.

White/blue smoke is unburned fuel and you will normally see this on a cold engine. If it continues after warm up and at part or whole throttle operation there is a good chance the injection timing is off. This can be caused by dirty or bad injectors, IP failing, plugged fuel filter, etc.

thanks i guess i do like you said get some fresh fuel i changed the filter when i first got it it was plugged solid i'll throw some cleaner in it and run it hopefully it clears up

Maybe in cold weather with poor injectors.

My Diesel farm tractor will as I can crank it with no compression and turn the fuel on to her as I motor it over and over. When I give her full compression then it will start. The extra fuel injected is said to wash the pistons down and destroy the rings/cylinder walls if done repeatedly.
