That's exactly the info that I was looking for.

Got some questions.

On the Bosch injectors, what does the 300 and 375 mean? HP or HP increase?

Say a guy went and bought something like the Supermentals. Could he use them on the highways or roads, etc. Do people change them out specially for this and just carry another set? Is that the only type that you can use if you have another type of injection like LP?

Last question, for now. When you do modify these trucks, can you make gradual changes or do you have to do everything at once? Say if you had planned on doing an injector change, air filter setup change, a GSK, exhaust, pump mods, whatever. Would you have to do them all at once or what order would you go in?

Thanks,

Trever

I think i've seen a picture of TimTheToolman(sp?) doing a burnout with his, I think it's a standard shift though.

Trever, Tool man's rig is a auto -- dtt w/ a 89% t/c

Trever, You can do one item at a time, you do need to do it in the right order and get the parts for where you want to end up. To see some smoking dually tires, come here , I'll give you a ride in my old 12 valve (321 hp at the rear wheels, I really need to fix that). Are you coming JohnE?

Here has a post I wrot a while back. A few differences between your truck and mine: you have a 180 pump (with the 181 delivery valves) and fairly low miles. A 3k RPM kit won't have as big of an effect on your truck but the torque convertor will make a huge difference. Next will be air mods, then injectors. Get the components to set up a balanced system and know where you want to end up before you start. 450 hp is a good number, depending on how much you will spend.

Notice I didn't say "want to spend"? Your cash will flow more freely when your truck starts to impress you with acceleration. Trust me, it's happened to everyone else on here.

Yup she's an auto. Real easy to do even stock (Just pinch off the rear rubber brake line with a line clamp or something similar so you don't cut the rubber. However with some mods (DDiii's and a HX 40 and a gsk) The real burnouts can be fun. But the trans needs to be worked and PLEASE do NOT powerbrake it stock even to 15 lbs of boost as the stock input shaft WILL snap (Just had a friend do it no problem on a stock truck and AGAIN with a box and 3's)

Will not be making the trek to Wisconsin BOMB party. I can justify the Twin Cities ventures and not much further. I have a full calendar this September, too.

Wife is now demanding the equivalent cash in new furniture as I spent on my truck maintenance. (I knew she was being too agreeable. )

BreaksEverything, TORQUE THIS, Extreme1 and Tim, :)

Thanks for the replys.

Extreme,

I think I will follow that exact order that you gave me. Would like to gradually expand though. It's kind of hard though, being the transmission is the most 'spensive. Almost makes me feel like I got to fry the stock one before I get a new one, or it would be a waste. But actually frying the stock one would be a waste too. What's it cost for a DTT setup? Would you just get the upgrades or the crate transmission? Do they build according to your specs?

Tim,

Awesome pic, also awesome looking truck. Also thanks for the info. Wow I use the word "also" a lot! :-laf If I remember right I was reading somewhere that you had a video of that burnout, maybe I read it at your Readers Rigs gallery. Got one? :)

Thanks,

mopower03,

Call DTT, ask Bill who is in your area for installs. You might have to drive a bit, but the ride home will be all :D :D :D .

TMTT and myself had to drive about 2. 5 hours for ours.

The rebuild will require certain items, BUT... there are options.

Good Luck!

I was sideways on the strip at vegas, MM 03, with all 4 up in smoke. Now the inside of my wheel wells are covered in traction compound. See my sig. for the major modifications at that time as it is soon to have a major change. Phuney needs more HP and is about to get a looks upgrade also.

Sweet! Sounds like one fun ride you had!

By looking at your sig it looks like you have a pretty cool rig! Hows the stupid pump for ya? :D

I swear just about everday I hear more and more good things about Piers. Must be a pretty smart and cool guy! :)

Trever

Believe it or not I have a stock fuel plate in the stupid pump and am still over fueled. I am about to add a Piers Head, Cam and Twins. Now I should be able to keep up any time anywhere.

As for the ride in Vegas I was sideways to the right them left and then back to the right and at that point I got off the loud pedal and let it straighten out. Of course I lost that race the only one I lost that night.

Bruce

The ATS converter is great and works like a charm. My trans is a rebuild by Larry & Bob at Bellflower Transmission, Bellflower CA. The trans that Bob built his having no problem holding the power.

As for the Emjay controller it is the only way to go as far as I am concerned. The control you have over the transmission is a necessity with the higher HP and Torque in these trucks.

Yep, straight off the DD site.

Injectors- DDx = Diesel Dynamics and power level.

The DD power levels are 1,2,3, then "mentals" as in super, dooper, and mega--or something like that. HTH:D

Actually, it goes 1, 2, 3, Super Mental, Mega Mental then Ultra Mental.

The Blue truck pic that you found was actually the last of a series we shot. The day before getting rid of that blue truck, we wanted to replace the tires for the new owner, so we went and burned them up. Well, what you don't see is that there is a Ferd in that cloud of smoke. The first few pics were used in one of our TDR ads I believe. That truck was ~350hp 5-spd at the time.

Dern it, I wanted some DOOPER Mentals. :-laf

Yep, when I get some new tires, I'll be melting off the old ones with camera nearby. Too bad it's just a pair.
