I am having some ECM issues. I Lost wait to start light and pre start functions (truck ran great). Dealer reflash got all prestart stuff back (lost early madd programed ecm) truck runs great but with stock program. Bought Smarty with revo to get back the hp/t lost but it will not load! I get a list of codes with my truck. Looking on buying another ECM to try. Rebuilders have many units (cal, fed, early build, auto/man etc). Which ones will work? Or should I get a reman. unit? or have mine remanufactured ($100-$200 cheaper)?

Do you have vacuum or electronic cruise? You will need to get a 2001 with drum brake and correct cruise ecm. A 2001. 5 with disc brakes will not work. A 2000 will probably not work correctly. Stick with the same as what you have now.

Godspeed,
Trent

I think I have electronic cruise, because I don't remember seeing a vacuum canister... . I will check again. I don't remember a cruse option on the remanufactures list, they must go by the vin #.

Vacuum canister is underneath driver's side battery. The electronic cruise will have only one cable going to the apps on manual transmission trucks. Going by your build date I would say it is vaccum cruise.

Trent
