2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission can anybody decipher VIN #s?

I'm looking at a truck through the net, and the dealer knows nothing about it. Is it possible to tell the diff ratio from the VIN?

Anyone know of a site that will help me translate this? Its a 2001 cab/chassis 4x4 with 5 speed.

12-17 Serial Number 6 unique digits - These digits can not be decoded to obtain options installed on the truck. Any Dodge dealer can enter the VIN into the DC computer system and print a build sheet, which lists all of the options installed on a vehicle.

Matt the dealer can print a build sheet based on the VIN # Since it was made in Lago Mexico it has undercoating under the cab.

BTW, are ther any chevy specific sites that get this kind of traffic? I need to get rid of a 2003 4500 Topkick dumptruck that isn't cutting it.
