Can beef be carried to Canada now?

I know in the past, beef products were a no-no. Has anyone recently crossed into Canada w/o beef being an issue? I don't want to carry it and provide a BBQ for the agents there

I personally haven't brought beef across for a few years. Some buds from work who cross every day still have their lunch taken when they forget what the rules are.



No spuds either.



Worms and nightcrawlers have to be in paper bedding, not dirt. Canada doesn't want any dirt from the US.

Thanks for the Canadian customs referral. I didn't see anything about a prohibition of beef going into Canada, but rather no beef can enter the U. S. The one I was surprised about was the restriction of poultry and eggs. That one wasn't an issue last year for us, or else they really didn't care that much. It's hard to keep up on what is or isn't allowed.



We take a dog with us and they mentioned most pet foods are banned, probably because there is poultry byproducts or something. We use the Costco Lamb meal, so I would hope it would be allowed. I'd hate to toss 40lbs at the border!

I cross 2 times a month on business..... they always ask about tobacco, liquor, and guns..... and than add, beef and other items... . My BIL passed through there 2 times last year... . and had problems with his travel trailer both directions... .



I just leave it at home to make the crossing an easy task... . don't bring any of it back either... . I once had a package of jerky from the US... . and had it taken away on the return trip... .

Now that I think of it when I drove here in Idaho from Alaska (military move) I had a few packs of jerky, lunch meat, etc.



They just asked me about guns, I showed them my orders and ID and all was well. This was in Beaver Creek and the customs ladies was very appreciative I shut my engine off as I pulled to the window, so maybe that helped as well.

Sounds like beef isn't going to be one of the things going across. I'd love to stock up at Costco prior to crossing, as beef isn't that cheap up there.



I use to take a short barreled shotgun (pump riot) but since 9/11 and the forms plus fee, I just leave it home. The border agents I spoke with recommended bear pepper spray, but it's pretty diluted compared to the stuff you buy here in the U. S. I think the way their pepper spray works, is you throw the can at the bear and hope it hits him in the nose or knocks him unconscious.
