I am having trouble hearing the highs on the factory 4 speaker system so I was wondering if I could just add the stock speakers in the dash (the ones that come with the 6 or 7 speaker system)? Will they work with my factory deck?

I am not looking for superior sound as I listen to talk radio most of the time and then music as a secondary.

You can not install the front speakers if you have the standard four speaker, non-infinity system. The radio has an aditional amp in it for the front speakers. I had looked into this also for my truck. I ended up changing my factory stereo to an aftermarket one that powers six speakers and installed a pair of infinity 4 inch speakers under the dash. Either way you look at it you will end up spending some money if you want to do any changes to your stereo. I have roughly $500 invested in the radio and speakers.

Had the same issue with my factory sound system... Really didn't notice it as much until I bought the wife a Jeep G/C that has the Boston Acoustics system in it... then I REALLY noticed how bad mine sounded. What I really noticed was the mids/highs were extremely muffled, and if the volume was very high anything near a bass note sounded like a busted speaker!!!. . Typical paper cone speakers!!.

I ordered some replacement Infinity speakers thru Crutchfield for my stock door locations and that really cleaned/cleared up the sound.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that I could add but with no output from my current stereo then I need another alternative. Sounds like the Infinity ones from Crutchfield will be on order.

The exhaust is wrapped and the exhaust is quite. Still hear the motor and e-brake which is just fine. The only truck noise I find annoying is the road noise from the doors and I might dynamat them as well when I get new speakers.

I highly recommend the dynamat in the doors. I put B-Quiet in mine and made a big difference, there is still slight noise there, but its not anoying. I also did the floor headliner and behind the rear seat. The passengers in the back seat and now have a conversation with the front passengers. It also cleared up the sound from the speakers.

You could put in 6x9 component speakers and mount the tweeters in the dash. MB Quart makes a set (PVI 269), and Elcipse makes a set SC6900. Or you could go with a set of Coaxial speakers, I would stay away from Triaxials.

Another option is to buy the unused MB Quart widesphere tweeters with crossovers from my PVI 269 and mount them in the dash. I only needed the component 6x9 woofers for midbass in the doors and bought the complete set.

Thanks for the recomendation. I had thought it might make a difference in noise and speaker volume and since you have done this and have seen this result it confirms I must do this. :)
