Not Sure if you will beat him or not on the 1/4 mile strip... but make him the offer of best 2 of 3. Hook up 5 tons and race him up and down the hills. And after that, ask him what his mpg was over the 2 events. You might not be the fastest, but so what. I have had 2 ford guys tell me in the past 2 months that the Cummins is the "poop"! Both had wish they got he Dodge over their Frods.

I whipped a 6. 0 today twice in a row from stoplight to stoplight. Both times I had him by 2-3 lengths. I love my edge After the first race we stopped at the next light, the look on his face was priceless I was loving every minute of it

sweet. those things are pretty fast stock (of course they shift WOT at 3700rpms). however, a crew cab short bed ford 6. 0 i was reading on the ford page runs mid 14's with just a chip in it.

But what was the HP of your 01' truck stock? The 03' with more HP and better gearing is a big difference. How much HP is the edge ez supposed to add?

Not necessarily, my 1995 Ford was at its most power in the 75 mph plus range. I was running a full banks kit, shimmed fuel regulator, 35's and 3. 54 gears. The truck was capable of a verified 130 mph (I was being stupid that day).

my edge rocks and i bet i could hand that 7. 3 power joke his butt the only problem is i have the 6 speed but you have the auto. trade that ttpm in for ez before you race. now if i had the auto no sweat my truck hauls but with edge on 4. i dont think i could hang with a juiced 6. 0 yet that is until i stack this ez with the new juice coming out. i guess stacked i will be in low 14's stacked. your buddy may get you now but he has the advantage of getting a better chip we are all waiting on the real chips to come out if he cant beat you now he never will!

um, sorry to point this out, but how do put smoke out with a stock cummins?

smoke with a stock 03? mine barley smokes with the edge lugging in 6th. A bigchipped 7. 3 will hand you your butt if you are stock.

i think you guys have the wrong image here... . i didnt smoke him out so no one on the road could see 10" in front of them. ALl i did was hammer it and left enough smoke (very very minimul) to see it in his lights. It wasnt much smoke, he obviously knew i hammered it though.

You mentioned earlier that I should trade in my TTPM for an Edge. Isn't the TTPM (True Torque Power Module) by Diesel Dynamics and the Edge EZ pretty much the same thing??

What's the fastest way off the line??? I'm no "Racer X" by any means here so excuse the dumb question. BUT... when I get the green light, should I just floor the pedal or what??

The fastest way to launch with an auto is to hold the brake with your left foot, ease on the right foot until about 10-15 psi of boost (whatever the tires will hold) and when the light turns green, lose the brake and mash the go pedal. I beat most unsuspecting gassers off the line that way and all I have is an ole '99 with 275's.

launch in 4x4! tire spin is your enemy

Most definatly launch in 4 wheel drive!



My rear brakes turn loose at 11 psi, and I weigh in at 9k



So lock in, pump the brakes twice, lay into the throttle, then let the brakes loose for a fast lauch.



Play with the throttle a little on some practice run to try to shift before 2500rpms to be faster.



I have trouble getting into over drive a low rpms with wot, but the power your running you may not need to worry to much about OD in a 1/4.



Races are (mostly) won or lost at the starting line so practice your launch, Know how long it takes to spool up so your ready when the opportunity arrives. Be consistant



With a good launch you should come out ahead.

Launching in 4x4

Good ideas on the 4x4 launch. How long should I wait before taking it out of 4x4? I've always baby'd my trucks going in/out of 4x4 mode and let off the gas etc... . Obviously if I did that I would lose speed quickly. I have electronic shift on fly for my 4x4 mode now though so it should make it simple.
