Here I am

Can I change a DRW to an SRW 3500?

I have an '05 3500 quad cab dually. I am gathering that the four rear wheels are costing me a premium in fuel over being an SRW. Are the axle widths the same between an SRW and DRW? WHAt wheel can I use that will sort of match the front one and will it look way too dorky? how much would it cost? Could I safely use a wheel spacer to push a SRW out to fill the flare? CAn I just have either the outer or inner tire take off or can I just take off the entire outer wheel/tire assembly with no problem? I am in between using this truck for anything besides grocery-getting. Can't afford to get rid of it either. I would love some input guys and gals!

Doubt you will see much of a difference in mileage if you convert to SRW, the rear axle on the DRW is wider by a couple inches than the SRW, you can convert it to SRW but unless you get different offset wheels for front and back your track widths will be different. Not worth the effort in my opinion.

I saw a Dodge dually with only the outer dually wheels heading up I59 a week or so ago ... ... ..... suppose he had fuel savings in mind?

I'm looking to do the opposite, so if you want to swap tires and work out some sort of deal let me know! My stock tires & rims have less then 3k miles on them!!!

you will not see a noticable difference in mileage going from dual to single.

some of us with dualies run singles because of toll booths, double the cost running a dually.

I used to switch from DRW's to SRW's during the winter, used stock wheels and good winter tires. The different track widths are about 2", helped out some driving in ice and snow. Otherwise, you need offset wheels to even things up.

Mileage increase?? I don't think it will be much different. I'm getting about 20mpg on my dually as long as I keep my foot out of the injector pump!!! Seriously, I run about 65 on the interstates to maintain my mileage. Anything over 2000 rpm just drags the mileage down.
