I kind of like the idea of a Homelink transmitter, but didn't want to get the Larmie to get it. Can I add it with parts from the dealer, ... at a reasonable price?

I posted awhile back about the samething and if I remember right dealer wanted over $260 for it. Kinda expensive for a garage door opener IMO.

This was his answer, FYI:

Well let's just say that I have friends in the right places, and I will have to leave it at that. What truck are you wanting to swap it into? I have one for sale for a Dakota... I used this in my diesel Ram for a while, everything worked great except I never thought the fuel mileage was quite right, I was told it probably wasn't because the Dakota's are all gas and I am diesel. I have not had the correct one in my truck long enough to say if there was/is a difference. I can tell you the Mopar part number on the new module was 56049707AC... call the dealer and ask them. The Dakota one I have is part number: 56049578AB.

If you found one used maybe it would be worth it. I've seen many on ebay without the homelink for a pretty reasonable cost.

Using the part number given above, I came up with about $150. 00 (list of $195):

I looked into this once before after I bout my truck but decided I can hang an opener or two from my sun visor. (now if you coulf get the one built in to the sun visor like my dad's Jeep, I might consider it).
