Hi All,

At 80K and time for another O/F change, I'd like to do a semi engine flush... . no not with that stuff from Gunk or any other solvent based agent, just an O/F change and another quick change at say, 20-50 miles.

I'm hoping this will help clean some sludge that may have built up. It prolly won't do a whole lot more then stroke my sense of do-gooding for ma' truck.

Anyway, I've got 8 qts of Valvoline Premium Blue 2000 (synthetic "blend") and 4 of regular Premium Blue; both 15/40.

Will it hurt to use the above mixes for the interim?

I've got some PreBlue Extreme to use for next change (5/40).

TIA,

-Jack

Clean out?

Seams like a waste of good oil ,why not run the mix and filter change for half a normal interval then change it . The oil needs to have time to work and heat to remove any build up. This oil would work in other small motor like the lawn mower . Oil in not cheap and we need to use it to the limit without wasting it. It will not hurt it motor to mix it drain it or use it like normal . Your call . Ron Bissett in Metro Louisville KY . :D

IMHO you will just stroke your sense of do gooding for your truck. If you have sludge build up of any significant amount it would take many miles and changes to clean it up, and maybe never. Just stick to a good service interval and quality products and it will be as clean as it can be.

Example: (not diesel but still tells a story) 307K and never been opened. Does not burn any appreciable oil (ie. level does not go down on dipstick). Oil changed every 4k. It is a stinking little '96 Ford Explorer! Can you believe it?

Key Words: Oil Changed every 4k.
