I was wondering if I could put a mechanical FP guage in the cab w/o having diesel line running in. . I would rather have the reliability of the mechanical gauge. Preferably I want to put the gauge on the steering column but I'm not sure if it would work. . What parts would I need??

Thanks

Derek

I had an Isspro mechanical gauge in the cab of my 01 with no problems. I ran stainless braided line in the cab. Came off the bottom of the fuel filter canister with a brass shut off valve. You just need to crack the valve open to get presure to the gauge. If you were ever to have a leak it would just be a drip & can shut it off at the valve until you fix the source. In 4 yrs I never had a problem.

I use a mechanical gauge with braided line and a needle shut off valve as well, has been problem free. One can also use isolator that will run a plastic tube into the cab filed with antifreeze.

I've been running mechanical for nearly three years, no isolator, no problems. I installed Isspro EVs and they've been reliable since day one. Now that I made that statement, I'll probably develop a leak or a needle fall off one of my gauges.

Yeah they don't cost that much the first time, but the second, third..... $80, $80, $80... .

What he said too! When my DiPricol isolator for my ISSPRO goes TU, it will be plumbed straight into the cab. I already have a mechanical oil pressure gauge with -3AN stainless braided hose into the cab after trying the electric oil pressure sender with no luck (erratic readings).

Don't use teflon tape on the fittings but use a good paste type sealer. I used tape the first time I installed my gauge and the fuel eat the tape and caused a weep at the back of the gauge. Replaced the tape with paste and no problems for the last 2 years. The paste was called Gassoila and can be had from Grainger supply

Will the diesel affect the gauge? I have a di Pricol set and an isolator and the thing worked for about 2 weeks. Not planning on spending the coin to replace it. The fuel won't eat at the gauge or anything? If not, time to simplify the install!

mechanical gauge

I installed an Autometer mechanical gauge w-isolator. It lasted about 15 minutes before it rattled itself to death. I got my $140. 00 back. Autometer said this application required an electric gauge. The vane pump pulses more than you can believe. I installed a glycerin filled Dynamic brand gauge. These have a built in snubber & are less than $10. 00. This is a quality stainless steel case gauge. I went from the filter center tap right inside the cab with high quality 400 psi fuel line. No problems. When you install an electric gauge it needs to be verified with a mechanical from time to time. This setup is the last word. 99 2500 2w, stock
