Where can I find a key fob for an 06 3500?

I just had a new AC compressor installed along with a new Orifice line and dryer. The new line is about 1/8 inch from the Dipstick tube and causes vibration noise when you accdelerate or engage Drive. Is the dip stick tube relocatable? On some engines I've worked on in the past you could loosen the mount at the block and rotate the line. Is that the case on our Cummings engine. Mine is the 5.9 on a 2006 3500.

I don't want the mechanic just bending the tube. If it can't be rotated easily, I will have to have him bend or relocate the AC line.

Thanks

You can bend the braket a bit that mounts it to the bell housing. You should be able to get enough clearancee and not mess up the seal doing that.

Put a short piece of fuel hose around the dipstick tube and zip-tie it to the AC line.

Good idea and I tried that, (should have mentioned it) but the two are so close that the tube couples constant noise from the engine vibration to the interior thru the AC. At least the tube I used did. It was a piece of plastic braided garden hose. You think rubber hose might be different?

If it is touching the AC line it will still transfer noise and vides. The vibes are bad for that line and the connections, otherwise a rubber fuel line should help. Didn't want to suggets it if they are toucjing too much as the transfer might do more damage than fixing it.

Does anyone out there have a 06 3500/2500 with auto transmission that could measure the distance between the dipstick tube and the
ac line? It would be nice to know what is correct. Mine is now only 1/8' to 3/16' between them.

Only got one shot before phone died.

I'd say an inch. I can try and measure tomorrow. Dark now and I have good duds on. Don't want to wreck my shirt dragging my big fat belly across the top of the battery..

Thanks a bunch. That approximation is fine when you consider mine is about 1/8 inch! The picture was super. Really appreciate that.

Now I want to go to a car lot and look! That's quite a difference.

Well, so much for trying to do it the right way. The first thing he said was, "can't do anything about that AC line and he pushed to "dip-stick" over 1/4 inch further before I could say anything. I suspect it won't last, but I am really curious to see another 06 Ram and compare factory with mine. I can only guess the factory tube turn down and over sooner than this one:mad:.

I would not worry about it. The tubes are tough to bend. When it gets pushed to the side like that it just bends the mountiung strap on the trans a little. As long as that doesn't break it will stay. The mounting strap is too hold the tube in place and allow some adjustment to how it sits. Always have to tweak the lcoaction and shape whne doing conversions and echaust changes and never seen to have many issues. As long as the boot or o-ring on the tube where it goes into the trans is good it won't leak.

Well thats good to hear. Thanks for the feedback. Its done so I'll just let it ride and see what happens.

I see you have a lot of posts in the forum and magazine. Do you run a shop or are you on the fun side of it, retired, etc.

Ha!! Several sons and 6 trucks that's almost like having a business. :-laf It must be nice though when you need to work on your own truck and have someone to help. Again, thanks for the help.
